What do they say about respecting your elders?

Teemu Selanne didn’t back down after a scrum near the boards late in Saturday’s game and the 40-year-old Anaheim Ducks forward held his own in a bout with Los Angeles Kings forward Brad Richardson. Richardson, 26, landed a few blows and Selanne came out of the scrap with a small cut under his right eye.

The bout -- which occurred with less than four minutes left in regulation of the Ducks’ 3-1 victory -- was Selanne's first since Jan. 19, 1993, according to hockeyfights.com. That bout was against Chris Chelios, then a member of Chicago Blackhawks when Selanne was with the Winnipeg Jets.

Imagine what those two would be fighting over now. Which Marie Callender's location serves the best soup?

Here’s a look at it:

That was pretty impressive by Selanne. I guess being on a goonish team for so long finally compelled him to get into the act.
