Boudreau doesn't think too highly of MSG

If Bruce Boudreau isn't familiar with a Bronx cheer, he soon will be.

Apparently the Capitals coach doesn't get the aura of Madison Square Garden. In an interview with a Washington radio station, Boudreau shared a few thoughts on the "World's Most Famous Arena." Here's betting he didn't make any friends in New York.

"Its reputation is far better than the actual building," Boudreau said in an interview on the station. "It's nothing. The locker rooms are horrible. The benches are horrible. There's no room for anything. But the reputation of being in Madison Square Garden is what makes it famous. Our building is a lot louder, too. They can say what they want, but it's not that loud in there."

Did you leave anything out, coach?

Apparently. Here's what he had to say about the Rangers' approach to Caps defenseman Mike Green, who just returned from an absence from concussion.

"It was to the side of the head, and it was a dirty shot. I hope the league looks at it," Boudreau said of a hit in Game 3 from Marc Staal. "That's exactly what we're trying to get out of the league and out of the game. Staal comes in, there's no puck, he takes his arm, he swings it at his head, but it's all forgotten because we score a goal to tie the game up.

"It shouldn't be forgotten and it wasn't the only time they targeted Mike's head."

As if the New Yorkers needed a reason to get more riled up. Just ask Pedro Martinez how it can be after saying anything bad about either New York or its teams.

MSG will surely be as loud as Boudreau has ever heard it before from here on out, especially if the Rangers are able to stay toe-to-toe with the Caps in the series. As for the other charges, well, they might be on target, but that won't matter much to the patrons. If he wants loud, he'll get it.

im from ny went to college in college park,  i think people who like to talk about ny and the people here, and constantly talk about how nyers think its the only place on earth, are all just following along with what they think they are supposed to say.  the great state of maryland other then a few pockets, is one of the more boring, forgettable places to spend a weekend , forget 4 years.  Ny is what it is, in this case your big fat red faced coach opened his mouth.  i didnt give the rangers a great shot of winning this series, but ill tell you one thing if they somehow do, you know ex ranger george mcphee one of the all time great pound for pound fighters in his days as a ranger, will be coach hunting.  Fact is the ranger stories dont even make the first four pages of the sports section.  Ny is not really a hockey town anymore, just like washington wont be when the cap run of winning nothing is over.  WIN a cup  with all that talent and then talk all you want until then,  id have let a sleeping dog lie.

I'm sure Green appreciates this comment, now the Rags will surely target his head.  Good job Boudreau... he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and focus on WINNING!

Game one came down to the wire, just like Game 3.  And Game 2...

Caps pitched a shut out in Game 2...how did that come down to the wire?

True.  The average fan may not realize the transformation of the Caps this year: shored up more at D, goaltending a slight improvement (regardles of Theodore's last year's regular season, I don't think anyone was real confident with him going into the post-season), but - both Neuvirth and Varlamov are a little short in experience,  and this has probably been Ovechkin's nest season thus far.  People can point to his point production all they want, but his game has matured to a more complete player.  The offensive scheme was so centered around him in previous seasons that it was easier to shut down the offensive juggernaut in playoff hockey.

The future will tell whether this is the right combination to make a deep run, but I was a little surprised how close the games have been.

your are right about that (the critics won't be silent until the Caps win the cup) and man o' man I can't WAIT to hear the sweet silence.  LOTS of Cap haters out there and we're aware of our past but history will change... wait for it... it's coming.... :)

With all do respect to you (you are one of the few unbiased people on this board that seems to have a clue ;-)..

Look at what your team is doing to phoenix (a much better team than the rangers)....12 goals, thats exactly how i pictured THIS series going down, that was really my realistic expectation although as a fan I always beleive my team could surprise me a they have so far.

This is the playoffs when teams are supposed to be at their best....If this is the best both teams have, I will take it any day of the week... the caps best apparently is like a beaudreau fart in the wind.

IF (BIG IF) my team loses, we are the worst seed in these playoffs, and so what?...to be honest, at the start of the season I didnt even think we would be in the playoffs, nor did I in the middle when the entire team went down with injuries, nor did I at the end when we lost a couple of bad games to poor teams down the stretch...but here we are.

Like I said, there is NO expectation on the rangers because they arent the ones who are way overhyped...we know who our team is, anything we got from game 82 on is gravy for us. However, the caps are under the gun here... not only to beat the rangers, but to win 4 rounds with a rookie goalie and a moron for a coach.

From what I have seen so far, even if they get past the rangers....no way they beat any of the other teams in the east, or the west...

I would bet the caps come out firing on all cylinders tonight....the first 5 minutes will be telling, if the rangers withstand the initial onslaught then its theirs to lose, they will be in the caps heads and it will be another tight game just like the others...if they cave and give up an early goal, then the momentum will shift back to the caps.

Bruce Boudreau is an a-hole, but I agree MSG is over rated.
