It sure didn't take Donald Brashear long to make an impact in the MMA world. We mean that literally.
Check out this video from Brashear's debut bout against Mathieu Bergeron. The longtime NHL bruiser takes just 21 seconds to defeat Bergeron, taking him down to the ground and pummeling him with a bevy of downward strikes until the fight is called.
Admittedly, I don't know much about MMA, especially enough to know about this Bergeron fellow. I do know he was a last-minute replacement and has little MMA history of which to speak. But even if he is a tomato can, it's still a pretty damn impressive start for Brashear.
"I'm having fun learning it," the 39-year-old Brashear said. "I haven't done much fighting yet. I love learning it and the fight was fun."
He has a contract for two more fights, so perhaps next time we'll get to see what he can do for a little longer.
Of course, if you want to see his greatest hits from the NHL, hockeyfights.com is always good.
