VANCOUVER --- The Vancouver Canucks’ Sedin twins have been fairly anonymous through the first six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Then came Daniel Sedin’s proclamation after the Canucks fell to the Boson Bruins, 5-2, in Game 6, setting up Wednesday’s decisive tilt.

"We're going to win Game 7," Daniel Sedin told the Vancouver Sun.

But hours before the decisive game at Rogers Arena, Daniel said he didn't meant for it to be a guarantee.

"That was probably me being excited and the words came wrong out of my mouth," Daniel said. "What I said was if we put our best game on the ice, I like our chances. That's the way it's been all year. When we play our best, we're a tough team to beat. We show that at home. We like our chances."

The home team has won each of the first six games of the series and the Canucks have baffled the Bruins' offense here, so there is some reason for confidence.

"If you don't believe that in this room, we're screwed," Daniel said. "We believe in ourselves here, and it's no different now. We should be proud of what we've done this year so far. Taking this to a Game 7, home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup finals, what else can you ask for?"

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was hardly upset at Daniel, who led the league in scoring with 104 points this season.

"What did you expect him to say?" Vigneault said. "Come on, we're in this to win. Daniel is one of our leaders on our group and he believes in the group and he expressed it. I think it's a normal thing to do at this time."

Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

I would love to see a Great game.  Played with intensity but with discipline on both sides.  Let's have an end to end 5 on five game tonight.  Let's have a game not decided by Refs and free of all the Shenanigans.

Let's watch hockey regain its prowess and finally put the strike year in the rear view mirror.  I am a die hard Bruins fan and I wish for a Bruins win.

But both teams have playes their a**es off.  Both teams have left bodies prone on the ice.  Let's see a game for the ages tonight and whoever wins:

They deserve the Cup.

Go Bruins.

Couldn't agree more with  . Been a B's fan since Bobby Orr ( the best ever bar none). Here's hoping it's a good clean game with no nonsense like biting or sticking fingers in each other's face. I personally think a win by the B's would be fantastic for Hockey. I am biased but Vancouver seems more than a little lacking in inestinal fortitude despite their obvious edge in natural talent.

He makes a promise and then waffles away from it - yeah, that is pretty much the textbook definition of soft.  I really hope the classy, non-biting, non cheapshot, non goalie mouth-running team can win tonight.

This isn't about USA VS CANADA... otherwise the Sedins, Chara and others wouldn't be playing.   Any real hockey fan will tell you this is about  two good clubs having playoff success that is long over due for each.  Nothing more!   So don't be singing Oh Canada or chanting USA...USA.  Don't put politics into something that doesn't need it.  Hockey is not Canada's game anymore... we gave it to the world and the world has embraced it.  (BTW our official national sport is LACROSS!)  As for all the Boston fans that wan't to chant USA USA... remember Teh Bruin greats are usually Canadians (Esposito, Neely, Bourque, and ORR to name just a few).  So remmeber lets keep it about hockey and not politcs or borders.  Lets all look forward to a great game regardless of the outcome.  BTW I live smack in the middle of Toronto Ottawa and Montreal and  I'M A BRUINS FAN!
