Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

VANCOUVER --- The Vancouver Canucks’ Sedin twins have been fairly anonymous through the first six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Then came Daniel Sedin’s proclamation after the Canucks fell to the Boson Bruins, 5-2, in Game 6, setting up Wednesday’s decisive tilt.

"We're going to win Game 7," Daniel Sedin told the Vancouver Sun.

But hours before the decisive game at Rogers Arena, Daniel said he didn't meant for it to be a guarantee.

"That was probably me being excited and the words came wrong out of my mouth," Daniel said. "What I said was if we put our best game on the ice, I like our chances. That's the way it's been all year. When we play our best, we're a tough team to beat. We show that at home. We like our chances."

The home team has won each of the first six games of the series and the Canucks have baffled the Bruins' offense here, so there is some reason for confidence.

"If you don't believe that in this room, we're screwed," Daniel said. "We believe in ourselves here, and it's no different now. We should be proud of what we've done this year so far. Taking this to a Game 7, home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup finals, what else can you ask for?"

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was hardly upset at Daniel, who led the league in scoring with 104 points this season.

"What did you expect him to say?" Vigneault said. "Come on, we're in this to win. Daniel is one of our leaders on our group and he believes in the group and he expressed it. I think it's a normal thing to do at this time."

Win or lose tonight, they would need to win another 33 championships after that to match Boston.

that's gonna be pretty tough with only 1 team out of the 4 major sports. Bruins are notorious chockers, Thomas is gonna poop the bed tonight

Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

Typical. I'm rooting for the Canucks, but I've seen the Sedins backaway from just about everything in the Finals, including Daniel and his prediction. Jesus, guys. Are you afraid? You're playing like it. Your manhood has been brought into serious question. The power play suddenly came unglued. You're diving. Embellishing. Tanking games. Why do that now, in the playoffs? What happened to the Canucks we loved in the regular season? Damn, I miss those guys.

Reading comprehension is your friend. Game 2 followed Game 1. Did you think they flew back to Boston after Game 1 and then came back?

Utterly stupidity!
Sure seems like it.

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Noles 506,

Real quick before your Mom calls you upstairs from the basement for dinner (mac & cheese),  but when you reference the Bruins only winning 5 titles in 87 years or so.  What is the success rate of no titles in 41 years.  And why couldn't a Canadien city acquire a team a little quicker than their neighbors to the South.  Seems a little strange that hockey overall has just as great if not more of a presence in another Country.  If not for the U.S. would the NHL even exist?

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Noles506,

I will give you a break since you live in a Country that is a complete joke World wide.  The CFL is a farce.  Teams that play in your Country in a sport dominated by Canadiens cannot win the Stanley Cup anymore, so why wouldn't you hate a city like Boston that continues year in and year out to win titles.  Vancouver simply is a city accustomed to losing.  Win or lose tonight, they would need to win another 33 championships after that to match Boston.

I do feel for you and will pray for you to someday find solace in an area outside of sports.

Now we have another Jet / Heat type scenario. Every clown aka(LaChoke James) who opens their mouths and sticks their foot in it, eventually chokes. Play the game and talk later. So far in the series, Boston has been embarrassing Vancouver to no end. Both Sedins have been "no shows" so I guess its time they mouth off to get some attention. Somebody call the ambulance again .

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Seems like a safe bet. Boston has been shut out every time they've come to Vancouver from Boston.

3-2 is a shut out?
