Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

VANCOUVER --- The Vancouver Canucks’ Sedin twins have been fairly anonymous through the first six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Then came Daniel Sedin’s proclamation after the Canucks fell to the Boson Bruins, 5-2, in Game 6, setting up Wednesday’s decisive tilt.

"We're going to win Game 7," Daniel Sedin told the Vancouver Sun.

But hours before the decisive game at Rogers Arena, Daniel said he didn't meant for it to be a guarantee.

"That was probably me being excited and the words came wrong out of my mouth," Daniel said. "What I said was if we put our best game on the ice, I like our chances. That's the way it's been all year. When we play our best, we're a tough team to beat. We show that at home. We like our chances."

The home team has won each of the first six games of the series and the Canucks have baffled the Bruins' offense here, so there is some reason for confidence.

"If you don't believe that in this room, we're screwed," Daniel said. "We believe in ourselves here, and it's no different now. We should be proud of what we've done this year so far. Taking this to a Game 7, home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup finals, what else can you ask for?"

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was hardly upset at Daniel, who led the league in scoring with 104 points this season.

"What did you expect him to say?" Vigneault said. "Come on, we're in this to win. Daniel is one of our leaders on our group and he believes in the group and he expressed it. I think it's a normal thing to do at this time."

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

A J Perez is at it again, drama queen tabloid writer should stick to his forte and CBS should give the hockey writing job to someone else.  What do you think Sedin should say when asked the question "are you going to win game 7?" Eh, don't know.

Seems like a safe bet. Boston has been shut out every time they've come to Vancouver from Boston. If it goes to overtime, hope Timmy doesn't lose track of the puck.

Dan Sedin Rents the movie 'Youngblood' Tuesday

Could you add any more pressure to yourself?  First you allow this series to go 7 games, then you guarantee a game 7 win all on top of that 'allowing yourself to get punched four times in the face' at the end of the last game?  Holy crap!  Hope your Dad showed you a few pointers about fighting yesterday.
Here's some good advice, allow yourself to get punched 4 times EARLIER in the game so that drawing a penalty actually means something.

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Daniel Sedin guarantees to allow himself to be punched in the face no more than THREE times before appealing to officials to intervene. You can only push a man so far.

yet to do a damn thing in this series on the road? You can't be serious. Losing 3 one goal games, allowing only 5 GA to the "best offensive team" in the league on the road, one lucky bounce in Vancouver and the series would be over by now. There is absolutly no way that anyone at this point should be publicly predicting a victory. Sedin should "feel" like they are going to win, that's how you should play but keep it locked up. Vancouver was the "best" regular season team in the Western Conference. It is like two different leagues, that has been proven in this series alone. At thios stage, it will be a bigger disappointment if the B's lose game 7 on the road than if the Canucks lose at home. Go B's!!

I don't like when players guarantee victories. It riles the other team up more. Yeah, yeah, I remember Mark Messier did the same thing, but If I were a player I would just remain quiet in front of the media and play my heart out.

Keep commenting over confident Bruins fans, you have yet to do a damn thing in this series on the road..and despite how Vancouver has played in your building, well that doesn't matter anymore. The best team in the regular seaon is playing on it's home ice for a 1 game take it all for the Stanley Cup, If they were asked at the first of the season or the first of the playoffs, hell even the first of this series..they would take this position hands down! If Boston was the best team during the season, then it would be in there barn and be a whole different story. Boston has scored 2 goals in a total of 3 games on the road this series....I can't see why all these Bruins fans are so damn cocky, that's not a performance that warrants an over confident attitude.
