Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

VANCOUVER --- The Vancouver Canucks’ Sedin twins have been fairly anonymous through the first six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Then came Daniel Sedin’s proclamation after the Canucks fell to the Boson Bruins, 5-2, in Game 6, setting up Wednesday’s decisive tilt.

"We're going to win Game 7," Daniel Sedin told the Vancouver Sun.

But hours before the decisive game at Rogers Arena, Daniel said he didn't meant for it to be a guarantee.

"That was probably me being excited and the words came wrong out of my mouth," Daniel said. "What I said was if we put our best game on the ice, I like our chances. That's the way it's been all year. When we play our best, we're a tough team to beat. We show that at home. We like our chances."

The home team has won each of the first six games of the series and the Canucks have baffled the Bruins' offense here, so there is some reason for confidence.

"If you don't believe that in this room, we're screwed," Daniel said. "We believe in ourselves here, and it's no different now. We should be proud of what we've done this year so far. Taking this to a Game 7, home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup finals, what else can you ask for?"

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was hardly upset at Daniel, who led the league in scoring with 104 points this season.

"What did you expect him to say?" Vigneault said. "Come on, we're in this to win. Daniel is one of our leaders on our group and he believes in the group and he expressed it. I think it's a normal thing to do at this time."

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

I think this is another case of the frustrated Nucks running off at the lips.  Tim Thomas has played pretty darn well in Vancouver, well enough to win all 3 games there.  It's now down to a one-game series.  Which goalie would you rather have in net, Luongo or Thomas?  Hamhuis, Rome, and now Raymond are all out, and Kesler has been all but erased from the series.  Should we believe that the Sedin ghosts will emerge suddenly and carry the day?  Maybe, but not likely.  Even back at home, this looks like tough sledding for the Nucks.  We shall see.

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Boston has yet to win on the road this series, yet you say there going to win?

The Celtics are past there prime, Pats will never hoist a trophy again..since they were exposed for taping the other team...and The Red Sox aren't going to win anything with that pathetic pitching....let's see them play against the Phillies for example in the World Series and win 10-9.Not going to happen! Then they will just run out next season & spend 300 million to try and buy a World Series.

Fuk Boston...I sh!t on Boston.

you know why we are all annoying.   because the sox, patriots as well as the bruins have been through long droughts,  alot of crappy teams and lets us celebrate when our teams are actually sorry boston and the surrounding area has been the mecca of professional sports sine the mid 2000's.

when the B's win tomorrow Boston will have won all 4 major sports championships in 7 years.....something that hasnt been done yet.  so call us annoying but we are just enjoying the "good" years.

Bruins will lose game 7 just like Daniel stated. Boston cannot score on the Canucks in Vancouver because "Bobby Lou" has been lights out at home and will be in the biggest game of his career(yes, I know he's been an embarassment in the 3 games in Boston but that's why they played their tails off all season to get home ice for the final game). No one thought they would beat the Blackhawks & they found a way to get that done just like they will in game 7. They just crowned a 1st time NBA champion the other night against a team that should have blown everyone out of the building and the NHL is going to have a 1st time champ too. Is it just me or are the bruins fans as annoying as red sox & cheatriots, oops I mean patriots fans???? And why was Rome suspended 4 games yet Mason Raymond got a vertabrae fracture and nobody says a word about what a dirty team boston is.... CANUCKS 4 Bruins 1

Sorry to see Raymond hurt, looked like a clean but flukey play though, not like the cheap shot on horton by rome. If Vancouver loses this series they need to move to the phillippines and rename the team the Manila Folders.......

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Sure is a lot of emotional people in here now isn't there? I respect Daniel for stepping up & being a voice for the team, and having confidence in not only his own game, but his goalie..and his team...I don't give 2 sh!ts who won what game, and by how much...that's why it's called a best of 7....this is why The Canucks battled to be the best team in the National Hockey League this they would have home ice advantage. Both teams have used there home ice to there advantage to date, and I can't see that stopping now.
I see people smashing on Vancouver for not winning a title....well,

Boston has been in the league since 1924, they played at a time when there was I believe at the most 10 teams (with some quickly folding) to compete with...and they have 5 titles in all that span of time. What's that , 87 years with 5 wins? when you had to compete against 10 or less other clubs? Doesn't sound very successful to me.

5 Wins , nearly 90 seasons.... = Fail

I may be wrong, but a quick count shows 17 Stanley Cup Finals appearances , with only 5 wins.

5 for 17 = Fail.

Whoever wants to argue about that, go for it.

Dumb dumb the Canucks have only been in the league for 40 years so you take 2011 and - 40 which doesn't add up to 1945. There 1st year was 1971. A year before Boston won there last Stanley cup...
Bruins will win tomorrow night.! But damn you dumb American get your facts right before telling someone else to get there facts right!
Tim Thomas for MVP!
