Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

VANCOUVER --- The Vancouver Canucks’ Sedin twins have been fairly anonymous through the first six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Then came Daniel Sedin’s proclamation after the Canucks fell to the Boson Bruins, 5-2, in Game 6, setting up Wednesday’s decisive tilt.

"We're going to win Game 7," Daniel Sedin told the Vancouver Sun.

But hours before the decisive game at Rogers Arena, Daniel said he didn't meant for it to be a guarantee.

"That was probably me being excited and the words came wrong out of my mouth," Daniel said. "What I said was if we put our best game on the ice, I like our chances. That's the way it's been all year. When we play our best, we're a tough team to beat. We show that at home. We like our chances."

The home team has won each of the first six games of the series and the Canucks have baffled the Bruins' offense here, so there is some reason for confidence.

"If you don't believe that in this room, we're screwed," Daniel said. "We believe in ourselves here, and it's no different now. We should be proud of what we've done this year so far. Taking this to a Game 7, home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup finals, what else can you ask for?"

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was hardly upset at Daniel, who led the league in scoring with 104 points this season.

"What did you expect him to say?" Vigneault said. "Come on, we're in this to win. Daniel is one of our leaders on our group and he believes in the group and he expressed it. I think it's a normal thing to do at this time."

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Hey Florida, I 100% agree with you. Less talking, more playing. D. Sedin will look rather dumb if he doesn't deliver. I think Luongo is going to wish for the good ol' days with the Islanders, because he will crack under the pressure tomorrow night, and I think Boston will thrive on the road. The home team winning each game comes to an end in Game 7. Nothing sweeter than hoisting the Cup on Vancouver's ice. Bruins in 7 !

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

I do believe you're right Mr. USA. Hehe Vancouver has some bright stars not holding their own end of things...they've got 1 biter (Burrows), 1 head hunter (Rome), a goalie by the name of "Betty Lou" (Luongo) who thinks he's hot stuff but really no actions to back up his Lack Luster for words. The man is way OVER PAID. He's never been a great goalie especially in CRITICAL GAMES his WHOLE CAREER. I think (Kesler) is great but he's a pest, H. Sedin is determined w/respectfulness in not saying much but D. Sedin come on I thought better of you, words like that is "Arrogance" just focus on the game & not so much w/Media you fricken Media *hores. Rememberance of a Brett Farve Media *hore. I get sick & tired of player flapping their Jaws, just play the game. I'm sure Boston has the same but you really don't here much smack on their part. GO BOSTON take the CUP HOME

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

The Sedin twins are far from the NHL's dominant forwards, and they have shown us all why in this final. Hit them, and they crumble. Would not pay them as much as the Canucks are, and certainly would not build my team around them. Time to ship them to the Islanders for some youth, and real talent, because they will never succeed in this league again, now that the Bruins have shown the rest of the league how to treat the inbred twins.

Good bye Vancouver, your about to have your a$$ handed to you. And when you lose, the lowlife in the city will riot, and burn your city to the ground. Oh, wait,..that may happen win or lose.

Even the Montreal Canadiens fans have alot more class than you people on the west coast. And that is why you will never win a cup. Karma's a bitch.

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

Not that the Briuns needed any extra motivation to play hard in Game 7, but when does the self absorption end? Daniel Sedin is not Mark Messier. Just go out and win. It sounds as if maybe some of his teammates aren't so sure of a Game 7 victory. Is this the year of the big mouths? First, LeBron James, now Daniel Sedin? This si gonna be good. Tune in everybody, let's see if Sedin proves correct, or will there be a huge plate of crow for him to digest? Personally, I'm rooting for the plate of crow. See you tomorrow night as Boston hoists the Cup!

I seem to remember Tim Thomas getting in trouble for stating he was confident of a win during the previous series against Tampa.

What else are you going to do? predict falure?

Oh right just state some pablum about playing your best game and giving 110%.  exciting stuff.

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

OMG, spinachman, go back to school and learn to write, spell, and use grammar and punctuation!  What in the world was all that gibberish?  One long, run-on, incoherent sentence?  And my favorite segment:
"brag and talk all you want bostone fans that wont get the anything vancouver is not listening to you"
WHAT???????  Are you serious?  "wont get the anything?"  And who in the entire WORLD doesn't know how to spell Boston?  IT'S FREAKING PHONETIC!!!  Bos-ton.  Very simple.  And chokeing??   What's with adding e's to words that don't have e's in them?

All the typing erros could be overlooked if you got your point across, but you didn't.  All I know is that you have something against Bostonians, Bruins fans in general, and that you apparently speak for all of Vancouver.
Incidentally, no Bruin guaranteed a Game 7 win.  That was Daniel Sedin who bragged.  Fans on a blog will always brag about and defend their favorite team, but when a player disrespects their opposition without any proof of being right, that's just obnoxious, inciteful bragging.

You should be embarrassed you even attempted to state your opinion in writing.  Seriously, Dude, stop posting to blogs until you know how to get a point across in writing.  And you might want to try to make a defendable point while you're at it.
