Daniel Sedin guarantees victory, then backs off

VANCOUVER --- The Vancouver Canucks’ Sedin twins have been fairly anonymous through the first six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Then came Daniel Sedin’s proclamation after the Canucks fell to the Boson Bruins, 5-2, in Game 6, setting up Wednesday’s decisive tilt.

"We're going to win Game 7," Daniel Sedin told the Vancouver Sun.

But hours before the decisive game at Rogers Arena, Daniel said he didn't meant for it to be a guarantee.

"That was probably me being excited and the words came wrong out of my mouth," Daniel said. "What I said was if we put our best game on the ice, I like our chances. That's the way it's been all year. When we play our best, we're a tough team to beat. We show that at home. We like our chances."

The home team has won each of the first six games of the series and the Canucks have baffled the Bruins' offense here, so there is some reason for confidence.

"If you don't believe that in this room, we're screwed," Daniel said. "We believe in ourselves here, and it's no different now. We should be proud of what we've done this year so far. Taking this to a Game 7, home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup finals, what else can you ask for?"

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was hardly upset at Daniel, who led the league in scoring with 104 points this season.

"What did you expect him to say?" Vigneault said. "Come on, we're in this to win. Daniel is one of our leaders on our group and he believes in the group and he expressed it. I think it's a normal thing to do at this time."

Daniel Sedin guarantees Game 7 victory

I have to agree.  Marchand delivered 4 blows (you have to admit they were pretty light ones) to his face and he did absolutely nothing about it.  He gave the ref more grief crying for a penalty than the guy punching him in the face!

Bruins the biggest chokers huh? Right..down 0-2 vs Montreal...going to Montreal..they win. Thats right..thats a team that chokes. Come back to sweep Philly. Then a hard fought 7 game BATTLE with TB..Bruins win. Your right though. Valid point...Bruins choke. If the Bruins lose tommorrow 3-2 ...is that a choke? Obviously we have 2 differant versions of the word.

The Sedins are a couple of fancy pants. Great talant, but  alittle light on the loafers. Burrows is just a tool. I like cookies

Bruins 4-2

Game 8 in Boston. Bruins 15-1. Bruins win the series 5-3.

Very Mark Messier-like, except he has shown nothing in this series to warrant such a proclamation, nor any inkling of being able to see it through.

I have always liked the Sedin's, but I think its because I hadnt seen them enough. Seeing them in this series (forgetting the score sheet ) makes me think they are really soft. A lot of over acting to try and draw penalties after the play. There was a scrum to the right of the golaie last night and one of them wouldnt even look the bruin he was tangled with in the eye, he was yapping at the ref while he was still entangled.

This aint soccer boys... dont look to the ref for help.

the Bruins have won 2 game sevens already this season and Thomas wasn't between the pipes last year Rask was,so very little evidence to suggest the Bruins are chokers. The Canucks may very well win game seven, being at home they are favourites to do so but it won't be because Thomas or the Bruins choked.

Spinichman..didnt know the game was over. And you say the Bruins "choke" in Vancouver? They have been close hard fought games. Vancouver chokes in Boston if anything. Wait..do they? 17-3 in goals...yeah..Id say they choke there.

Shut up.  Marchand punches Daniel 4 times in the face and no call.  This is sportsmanlike?  Just like embellishing is unsportsmanlike.  Boston is playing their game which they should.  Vancouver is a soft, finesse team.  But Im sick of all the accusations of dives just as I'm sick of all the accusations of crappy refereeing.  Its been a nasty and weird final and its been a long road for both teams.  Gonna be fun Wednesday night.

Fact is I do not care at all what this guy says. Him and his brother have clearly shown their lack of character this series. With the worst show of embellishments in recent history. Only thing Vancouver needs is Mike Ribiero with the Sedins to make it the hall-of-fame diving line. This game could go either way and I think the first goal is crucial, especially if Boston gets it in the first. If the Bruins do get to Luongo early I wonder how short a leash he will have. I am guessing if he gives up 2 in the first half of the game he will likely be out.  anyway, it has been an awesome series cant wait to see how it ends.
