Earlier this week we passed along a video from a hockey camp run by Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews that included the 2010 Conn Smythe winner accidentally colliding with one of the camp-goers (video above).

The kid dropped to the ice and remained down -- while making an obvious groaning sound -- until the CTV camera cut away. But not before the reporter informed us -- jokingly ... I think -- that Toews, all 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds of him, would be OK for the start of training camp following the hit.

We were still left wondering what happened to the kid, who is obviously a fraction of the size Toews is and was clearly the one that took the worst of the collision. Was he injured? Did he return to the practice? Did Toews do anything for him? As it turns out, yes, yes he did.

A camp spokesperson tells us that after taking a brief break during the session, the kid was eventually able to return for the remainder of the practice and that Toews, feeling bad about delivering the accidental open-ice hit, gave the young man an autographed hockey stick when the session was completed.

EVERYTHING'S FUNNY ABOUT THIS!   Conrad, lighten up.    This happens all the time in every level of hockey.   He had more than enough padding on and if this bump bothered him he shouldn't play.   This was the NHL having a little fun during a time of year when everyone's more interested in baseball pennant races and the start of college and pro football.   Honestly, if I were Toews I'd chat with my new enforcer Cirillo and have him take a run at the kid--he was obviously out there taking a cheap run the former Conn Smythe winner!

Got all the evidence I need. The Blackhawks hate children, old people and cab drivers!!! LOL. Can't wait to read an article next week about Patrick Sharp kicking someone's dog!!

Really funny.  Someone mentioned the kid should have gone to Patty Kane's camp.  If he did he would have been forced to drive a cab and taken a punch from the star's cousin.  A hit on the ice is much less crazy.

you people are making a big deal out of nothing, just because the kid gave up 2 feet and 140 lbs doesnt mean he still shouldnt keep his head up. Maybe the kid shouldve went to Patrick Kane camp they would have probably been at eye level

Supposedly he joingly told the kid "what did you learn from this" and the kid replied with "always keep your head up".

Previous comment referring to hockeybob's comment on the story; nothing hilarious about the little guy getting run over, glad he's OK.
