Reviewing Seidenberg's boarding call on Skinner

Next up on the Brendan Shanahan radar of justice? Perhaps it will be Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.

Tuesday night's game -- if you want to call it that -- between the Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes got ugly. I mean that really got out of hand fast. It was so bad, even Boston coach Claude Julien was tossed. The only thing that could have made it more crazy would have been a goalie fight, but Cam Ward turned down Tuukka Rask's dance proposal.

Also thrown in the mix was Seidenberg's hit on Hurricanes young star Jeff Skinner in the third period.

I feel for Seidenberg a bit on this play. Skinner, as talented a skater and as creative as he can be, doesn't always do what you expect him to. In this example, you're assuming Skinner is going to continue skating around the end boards, right? Instead he flips the back back toward the slot with a backhand shovel and now Seidenberg is crawling up his back.

At the same time, I also understand why the Hurricanes would be a bit upset. You have to protect your skill players and any affront, clean or not, needs to be dealt with.

Much the same as Kris Letang's hit that earned him a two-game suspension, that's where I'd expect this one to come donw. Although there has been no word yet of even a scheduled meeting for Seidenberg, with the way things are going, I'd expect one.

Reviewing Seidenberg's boarding call on Skinner

you need to get a clue moron.....Horton passes the puck halfway between the red line and blue line, takes at least 3-4 strides, and Rome, who sees the play CLEARY in front of him and sees Horton WITHOUT the puck hits him, shoulder to head at the BLUE line. clear cut illegal hit.....most people understand that, but you are simply a fool.....bottom line you cant hit a guy without the puck, and he took 3-4 straides clearly without the puck, then the fact shoulder to head is also illegal....get a clue dummy!!! and yea jealous that the Bruins took home the cup!!!! sorry, you'll be ok

But back to this discussion. How is it that Seidenberg's boarding does not get a suspension, fine, or even a review in light of Letang and Weber? It's hard to argue that that is not special treatment unless you or anyone else has a credible explanation.

Here's the video, liar:

Gets rid of the puck with 14:57 showing on the clock then gets hit with 14:57 showing on the clock. Not more than a half second late - the video doesn't lie. Why should Rome avoid it - he is getting paid to finish his checks, or don't you understand hockey?

They did get special treatment with Daddy pulling strings as a top league executive. I remember what a moron you are from last year, so I don't give a crap what you think. You're just another of the most annoying sports fans from Boston.

Based on last year's series with TB, the insane suspension of Rome for 4 games of the Stanley Cup Finals for which the NHL called "an otherwise clean" but a half second late hit, and now this, I am only left to conclude that the Bruins are the new darlings of the NHL. Is Colon Campbell still calling the shots from behind the scenes?
wowww, jealous of the Bruins Cup last year?? sounds like it!! The Rome hit was MORE then a half second late, get serious. Horton skated at LEAST 3-4 strides WITHOUT the puck before getting hit. Rome easily could have avoided that hit.
and if you think the Bruins are getting special treatment, you are just one of those, this game is fixed kind of people. get real, no team gets a pass......ill go back to the Cooke hit on Savard.....the Bruins got special treatment there huh?? Cooke got away with one of the dirtiest hits ive seen.

Perfectly reasonable assumptions, but no, NOTHING! I can't wait to see how long the suspension is when a Bruin gets boarded in the same manner.

Reviewing Seidenberg's boarding call on Skinner

Well, it's been 3 days and not ONE WORD from the NHL about this boarding which was every bit as bad (IMO worse) than the Letang boarding.

Welcome to the new, BS NHL. I have lost my respect for Scamahan.

Reviewing Seidenberg's boarding call on Skinner

As a Hurricane fan, I saw it as a board under the new rule,  However, I believe it was called more because of the earlier play of the Bruins, than because of the actual hit.  The Bruins when on a Head hunt starting in the second period when Chara decided to sucker punch Jay Harrison.  Then came the Horton battering of Gleason, which had cost him a misconduct penalty then Chara's high stick to Skinner then Marchand getting a game misconduct, it all lead to the boarding call I believe.I think the Refs felt the Bruins were starting to take some cheap shots, whether warranted or not, and they were letting it be known this wasn't going to happen.  I think the frustration of what has been a dismall start for the defending stantley cup champions came to a head against the Hurricanes and they let it go.  The question for me is not is Seids gets suspended, as I don't think the offense was that bad, proper call but not that bad, but whether or not Chara, Horton and Marchand get penalties from the league for what happened on the ice.And yes, Calude Julian should be suspended for a game or two for being tossed.  Again, my opinion, it's one thing to protect your team but he was challenging the Refs from what I could tell on the TV.
wow mikey, little bit off there pal.....ok your a Canes fan and im a Bruins fan. but let me give my opinion on the things that happened.......yes the Bruins were not disiplined and took some bad penalties, and seidenberg probably will get 1 game, although it really wasnt that bad a hit, skinner turned and thats a hard hit to avoid....but head hunting?? you are nuts.
Chara sucker punch??? first off Horton was engaged with another Cane- pushing and shoving, THEN IN CAME Harrison to shove Horton, now you have a 2 vs 1 situation...so you think Chara shouldnt step in??? your crazy...The captain stepped right in, no sucker punch, grabbed him, and they started to go. watch it again, you will see. Horton battering Gleason?? lol. wow...Horton did lose it, but never really threw a punch, grabbed him, wanted to go, Gleason didnt wanna go, Horton kind of flung him around a bit, Gleason fell and Horton pretty much kept shoving him. no punches. Marchand and Julien got tossed for probably saying the wrong thing to the refs, i dont think thats close to a suspension.
The Bruins lost it, and took some bad penalties, but to say they went head hunting, please. way off base.
