For the first time this season the Tampa Bay Lightning demonstrated the raw power of their new Tesla Coils at the St. Pete Times Forum on Saturday night, unleashing them during the pre-game video presentation. The team says there is still a bit of testing that needs to be done before they can be fired up after every Lightning goal (which is the plan) but we did get to see a brief glimpse of what they're capable of prior to the Lightning's 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Check them out starting at the 57-second mark...

This is a great addition to the pregame and hopefully every time the Lighting score, as long as no one gets hurt. Have to say I'm a sucker for more unique visuals at the game. I also have to say though that I am not at all a fan of the new pregame song. I just don't think it sets the right tone for the game.

Look at the Mad House on Madison. All those crazy Black Hawks fans yelling during the National Anthem. Or the classic song played before Bulls games. These get not only the team's blood pumping, but the adreneline up of the crowd as well. I wish the song for the Lighting was a bit better. But I'm all in on those Tesla Coils. &

They fix all the glitches yet?   Something about being being a few dozen feet from lightning makes me want to make sure I'm standing behind something non-conductive.
