Jagr suffers 'lower body injury' in win

Thanks to a late goal from rookie sensation Matt Read the Philadelphia Flyers were able to pull out a 2-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night. It proved to be a somewhat costly win as the team lost Jaromir Jagr to what has been described as a "lower body injury" after he played just 1:22 of ice-time before exiting in the first period.

Jagr has been a vital part of the Flyers' early season success, scoring at a point-per-game pace throughh his first 17 games of the season, while forming an outstanding 1-2 punch with Claude Giroux.

Though the injury is not considered to be serious, it's assumed that Jagr will not make the trip to Winnipeg for the Flyers' game against the Jets on Saturday.

Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced against his former team to help pick up the win, which had to be pretty satisfying on a personal level after a couple of his former teammates had some strong words for him prior to the game.

I'll admit I wanted the Pens to sign Jagr, but I would have been worried about him breaking down. Not saying that it has started because any hockey player could miss a few games due to bumps and bruises, but it makes me wonder. I know he has been relatively durable in his career, but he's getting to that age where it takes a bigger toll on your body. Plus, he hasn't experienced the grind of the NHL for 3 years.

Instead, the Penguins get Stevie Sullivan who has a history of injuries and about half the talent that Jagr has.

Wow maxbuster - mad he didn't sign with the Pens hey?  I would say something about Crosby being done, but I would actually like to watch him play, even if he does average almost 2 points a game against the Flyers.  Way to be a douche.

Jagr suffers 'lower body injury' in win

I wish the NHL would make the clubs get rid of this silly "upper body injury" and "lower body injury" nonsense and simply say what got hurt.  Do the teams really think their opponents won't find out anyway, through the grapevine?  As it is, the only ones who don't know are the fans.  The league should stop insulting everyone with this Mickey Mouse stuff if they want to be taken seriously.

If Stanley Cups were handed out in November, the Capitals might have won one by now.
