Kids' postgame handshake erupts into brawl

Line brawls are always a hit in hockey, aren't they? Fans love fights, so how about five fights all at once? Maybe even 20 fights all at once after something like the postgame handshake?

If that's your sort of thing, consider this your lucky day. Because in Kazakhstan, two teams made up of 9-year-olds -- yes, only 9 years old -- decided to carry their hostilities to the postgame handshake.

For a little more context, here's the description of the video posted on YouTube.

This is my 9-year-old brother's team Kokshetau -- Burabay (green) fighting against the team from the capital city of Kazakhstan -- Astana (white). Even though team Astana won against Burabay 5:3, they started talking crap to their opponents during hand shakes; so the capitan of Burabay's team could not just let it go and started the fight.

Here's the result:

It's not exactly the brawl between two Turkish teams, but for a few fleeting moments it's pure chaos. Order is easily and quickly restored, however, when the adults threaten to take away the kids' postgame snacks.

Here's a quick geography tip on Kazakhstan: It's more than the home of Borat. Current NHLers Evgeni Nabokov and Nik Antropov call the country home, too.

Kids' postgame handshake erupts into brawl

I was raised on the principles that words don't mean squat

They don't. Even the words the parents and coaches tell them. Actions do. You can't tell them 'don't fight' in hockey... a sport that stands and cheers every time one breaks out. It's completely hypocrital. The families in the stands cheering are actually the ones NOT being hypocrits. Think about that next time you're at an NHL game and fight breaks out.

That tells us all we need to know about your knowledge of hockey.
Apperently I know more than you do. If you knew anything about this league you'd know that a large majority of the people in Tampa Bay migrated here from up north. I'm from Detroit. I was a season ticket holder there... and I am one here. You'd also know that when fights break out, people cheer. They just don't cheer... they give standing ovations. Other than a goal, nothing generates more applause than a fight. You don't want kids fighting like this? Then get rid of fighting in the NHL.

KNOWLEDGE makes all good points, including the one about race.  This culture is out of control, filled with a lust for violence that serves the powerful and generates cycle of anger, frustration, failure, and more violence.  Sick.

The problem with most youth sports is the parents.  Listen to the audio on this video- hooting and applauding the kids, and the kids respond with with that "look at me" pose.  Ludicrous.  And if you applaud it, or think it's okay for 9 year olds to pull this crap then your are just as much of idiot.

Wow..., the ignorance on this thread is amazing. Yeah fighting is part of hockey, and trash talking is part of football, but you don't condone, and cheer that type of thing in youth sports. Absolutely ridiculous!! I hate to bring race into this, but you all know that if this happened on a football field and the kids were black, they would have been called thugs, and animals. Instead because it's a bunch of white kids I'm hearing that there is nothing wrong with this behavior. GTFOH!!! I was raised on the principles that words don't mean squat, and that you only resorted to fighting when someone placed their hands on you first. Then you had the right to defend yourself. There is nothing cute about this. In my opinion they look like a bunch of little derelicts, that need to be taught a lesson about sportsmanship! Shame on you clowns that are applauding this crap. I'm a youth coach, and the little runt that started this would be sat down, and spoken to about how to conduct yourself in a sporting event if he was on my team. He would definitely not be playing in our next game either. Let them talk. You won the game. That was payback enough!

How stupid! At least pull there helmit off. Who is training these kids? For real though, the coaches should not be allowed to coach ever again.
