The Tim Thomas White House controversy just won't go away, even though he wishes that it would.

After he refused to attend the Bruins visit to the White House earlier in the week, the Conn Smythe winning goaltender has drawn a flood of criticism from media, fans and even anonymous sources within the Bruins organization, referring to his decision as "selfish," as the Boston Globe reported on Tuesday.

Even though he said his Facebook statement explaining his position would be his only comment on the matter, it's been all anybody wants to talk about anytime he's been in front of a microphone or camera during the All-Star weekend festivities.

During his media availability on Friday, for example, he was asked if he wanted to see this all just go away.

“I think it should. I think it should," said Thomas. "I think it’s all media-driven right now. It has been from the start. Everything I said then was as an individual. It wasn’t as a representative of the Boston Bruins. All it has to do is with me. It’s separate from hockey. That’s my personal life. Those are my personal views. Those are my personal beliefs. It has nothing to do with hockey. It has nothing to do with this All-Star Game.”

Thomas did not join the Bruins on Monday and said later in the evening that it was his right as an individual to not go, a decision he made because he feels the Federal government "has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People."

The controversy that followed even led to speculation that maybe this could be the beginning of the end for Thomas' time in Boston, which seems pretty silly to think about. Of course, sooner rather than later Thomas and the Bruins are going to part ways, but that has more do with the fact he is 37 years old, only has one year remaining on his contract, and the team already has his replacement, Tuukka Rask, on the roster. Not because he skipped out on taking a trip to visit the President.

Thomas will also eventually get his wish, and this story will disappear. Perhaps as soon as the second half of the season starts up and he gets back into the crease and starts winning games again.

That always seems to put a pretty quick stop to a lot of controversies like this.

We would, if it were not for the negative drag it creates.  Plus, we want to help improve things for all, we just can't resist the possibility of helping for its own sake.  The problem is restraining oneself from trying to do too much, and evolving into a bunch of invasive goo-dooders.

Gordon is probably a liberal also,
Probably? Nothing like using known researchable facts when commenting.

You refuse to look up the meaning of the word "whine", which you have used incorrectly several times, but I am supposed to do research on some guy that hates conservatives.  Why would I do that?  Why would I care?  I was nice and said probably, but it was clear he is a far left liberal with the quote you used.

I think I met this woman once. :) I'll go you one better. Back in the early 1980's, my brother ran into a rough patch and ended up with altogether too much free time in between what work he could scare up. So, he joined up with one of those community organizers we heard so much about in 2008. They had him bringing the good word about "benefits" to the masses, door-to-door. What a bright-eyed, eager little puppy he was! Not for long. It was a bitterly cold, snowless Midwestern winter. After a while, he started keeping track. When he was done, he had found that fully one-third of those houses which he had visited had their doors wide open to the wind, while the gas heat just poured in to compensate. He's been a Republican ever since. (Me, I joined them when I was 12 years old. I was precocious. Left them a few years back, come to that. RINOs were bad enough, but moon-shot crazy people I definitely don't need in my life. I might have to vote for one of them, but I'll be d*mned if I want to be associated with them except at the end of a choke-chain.)

One last thing ... my daughter made me laugh when she just said "just another republican who will never see the inside of the White House."

If I give you that all conservatives are ignorant and all liberals are enlightened geniuses, why can't liberals mind their own business. Let us live our ignorant lives in incandescent bliss while you smartly live in fluorescent misery.

Buddy Ryan: You forgot to ask "Can I go to the bathroom, boss?" Gee, my goal in life is to let the federal government and all of these nice, helpful Liberals raise my children for me. After all, they've done such a bang-up job in places like Detroit and south-central LA and North Las Vegas these past four plus decades. Yessiree Bob! I was just telling the missus the other day that what we need more of in this country is another whole heaping mess of people who need cash registers designed with pictures in place of numbers, so that even the pride of the Detroit School District can get a J-O-B.
