Milan Lucic's church in Vancouver vandalized

The vandals left this in their wake. (Vancouver Sun)

OK, isn't this Bruins and Canucks rivalry going a little too far now? I mean, it probably crossed that line a while ago but if you didn't think it had, this will probably change your mind.

The above is a photo of Bruins forward Milan Lucic's family church back in Vancouver, his hometown. It was taken by Lucic's girlfriend Brittany Carnegie after some vandals thought it was a good idea to deface it in the name of the Canuks. Sorry, I mean Canucks, got confused after looking at the handiwork of some obviously hardcore fans.

We took some photo editing liberties to tone it down, so in case you were wondering, just by any off chance, what the entire image looked like/said, here's a description from the Vancouver Sun.

On the side of the St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church is large, black graffiti that reads “F--k Lucic” and “Go Canuks (sic) Go,” along with crudely drawn genitalia.

“This is DISGUSTING!” Carnegie wrote. “Punks did this to Milan beloved church! So disgusted!”

Lucic hasn't been exactly treated kindly by his hometown since the Bruins beat the Canucks in an intense seven-game series. Posters of him have been defaced in the city and a brawl broke out when he showed up at a Greek festival. So yea, he's kind of a big deal there.

I'd admonish the hockey fans of Vancouver here for giving themselves another black eye, but I can't. I just can't call these guys Canucks fans. Isn't it a requisite to spell the team's name right to be called a fan? This had to be the work of the same type of fan who decided it was a good idea to wreck their city after losing the final game.

Speaking of which, the first sentence has been handed down to a rioter and it was for 17 months. Granted, said rioter had a history that greatly contributed to that sentence so it was abnormal, but point is we should start seeing some more soon.

In the meantime, let's leave this rivalry on the ice. That's more than entertaining and heated enough already.

Milan Lucic's church in Vancouver vandalized

This was done out of a desire just to cause trouble and not to "support" the Canucks. I think a true fan would know how to spell the name of his/her team.

Hard to tell if the team reflects the city, the city reflects the team of both the team and city reflect the coach. Anyone remember the face-off "non battle" involving Lucic and a "Kanuc" during last years finals? Or Dale Weise egging on Thornton then doing the chicken out routine when Thornton agreed to go this year? It appearsw these guys are being coached to be weasels. At least the refs got the calls right in both instances. Seems to me this team has got nothing other than the Swiss Miss line that is remotely worth paying attention to. Other cities have the graffiti but not necessarily the weasels.

So much stupidity here it's hard to comment on all of it including Brian Stubits pointing out that "Canucks" is spelled wrong under a caption that has "Vanadlized" in it.

Up until now, I was giving credit to Stubits for his wittiness......but now the spelling has been corrected. So I guess it was the opposite of witty. Tongue out

Stubs, you might have been better off just leaving it as it was. lol

So much stupidity here it's hard to comment on all of it including Brian Stubits pointing out that "Canucks" is spelled wrong under a caption that has "Vanadlized" in it. The stupid fan spells his (supposed) team's name incorrectly. The stupid fan defaces a church with graffiti and a lewd drawing. But the stupidest part of all is that anyone would hold an opponent accountable for defeating his hometown team. I mean, is Patrick Kane supposed to lay down against the Buffalo Sabres, because he's from Buffalo? Really?! Athletes seldom play for their hometown team. Many of the NHL players are from Canada, is Lucic the only one from Vancouver? Maybe that says something about Vancouver homegrown hockey, too.

Oops, forgot to finish my sentence....

"...the message would have been different."

Have to agree with Stubits here.......a fan would know how to spell the team's name. Whoever did this probably would have vandalized something regardless of any hockey rivalries. The only difference is they may have chosen a different target and the content of their message (I'm using the word "message" for lack of a better word that CBS wouldn't censor).

To suggest this - or even the riots - is a reflection of all or a majority of Canucks fans is silly.

I thought I remembered Lucic being the only Bruin getting cheers from the crowd in Vancouver when he raised the Cup. Vancouver is a great city and there are still classy people there....they just don't make the news.

LOL at all these pathetic  posters condeming the Vancouver fans for this.  Are you really that stupid?  The idiot kids who did this didn't even know how to spell "Canuck" so how much of a hockey fan can they be?  Good thing there is no grafitti in Toronto, Boston or Philly...
