Wojtek Wolski traded to Panthers

For the second day in a row the Florida Panthers added to their roster, this time by acquiring veteran forward Wojtek Wolski from the New York Rangers in exchange for a third-round draft pick and Michael Vernace according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Wolksi has appeared in just nine games this season scoring no goals and recording three assists for the Rangers. He scored 12 goals during the 2010-11 season which he split between the Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes.

For the Rangers, the biggest value they may get from this deal, along with getting any sort of a return for Wolksi given how little he's played this season, is the simple fact that they were able to clear some salary cap space in advance of Monday's trade deadline (where the Rangers are rumored to be interested in adding Columbus' Rick Nash) dumping the remaining portion of Wolksi's $3.8 million cap hit for the season.

He's eligible for restricted free agency after this season.

I dont know why everyoneid making a big deal about Nash, Yes he is talented. But what has he done for his team???

Its very easy to be a star in Columbus Ohio! LMAO!! Now we are talking about NYC!!!!! Its Night and Day if you ask me.
i would much rather have Jeff Carter. LA got a great deal.

Great pickup for Dave Tallon. A player that has sproven he can score 60+ point in a season, with a somewhat reasonable cap hit. Now that he's out of New York and onto a squad fighting for their playoff lives, he will get more ice time and put up some good numbers!

For the Blue Jackets I thinknit would be a great trade, they can add a bunch of grit and young talent.

Don't want to dump Dubinsky but you have to give quality to get quality. Dubinsky is having a down year scoring but is a gritty skilled player. The rangers can win a cup this year and should try to add Nash, regardless of how it turns out, he's only 27 and is a proven player. Giving up Kreider considered a can't miss, although there really is no such thing, along with Erixon a first and Dubinsky could blow up in NY's face for years, or adding one more big piece, a proven power forward could put them over the top. It's a hard decision. I'd take the shot because even if they don't have a great playoff they can hopefully keep Nash long term and are young enough to make a bunch of runs at the cup.

I thought it was Brandon Dubinsky, 2009 #1 pick Chris Kreider, and the NYR #1 pick next year...who's Erixon and why would we want him? We just traded Carter for more defense...and why do you guys want to dump Dubinsky so bad?

Great time to be a Rangers fan.......anticipating the arrival of Rick Nash. If it happens, be certain to thank the Panthers for their complicit contribution, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I'd like to see Zuccarello, Pavel Valentenko, and a 1st round pick for Dustin Brown.
