See CLV, this is what happens to your prognostication when you count on Ovenchicken. Y ou can't win the Conn Snythe if you doom your team to never getting past the semis. Wink

Predators beat the Ducks?  Did your doctor presribe that stuff or did you get it from the high school kid down the street?

enusmith, the Canucks were actually ranked higher than the Hawks in '09. But I think that's irrelevant. Vancouver has the clear edge in the first round against Chicago this year. They should win.

It's not that I think the Canucks can't win the whole thing. Quite the opposite. They are easily the favorite to come out of the West and perhaps take home the most coveted trophy in sports come mid-June. There's really no rhyme or reason why I don't have the Canucks winning it this year aside from the stigma of not making it past the second round since winning the West in 1994.And I like the Sharks a lot, especially what they've been able to do for the past 30 games or so. But, anything can happen. That's why this tournament is the greatest in all of sports.

It's funny that a lot of people don't think the Canucks can win the cup this year. Remember in the past 2 years the Blackhawks were the higher ranked team and was the better team. I think the Canucks are far and away the better team and will win the cup this year. They beat everyone this year who was supposedly a hot team.

I am loathe to admit it, but I think the Pens are damn scary.  They've been great without Sid.  If he gets back healthy, they have to be considered a top threat.

I'm really curious to see:

-  If the Caps can focus on defense enough to live up to expectations.

- If the Canucks can stay focused and not let Chicago in their heads

- If the Sharks playoff demons were a team thing or a goaldtender problem.

- If the Wings can get back to elite status.  They looked pretty good closing out the season.

- Can the Flyers get back on track?  Is Prnger healthy and strong enough to carry this team again?

-Are the Ducks peaking at just the right time?  Or did they use up their stuff just gettign in teh playoffs?

Sean Avery, trolls are always welcome to comment on anything I write. I appreciate the fact you took time out of your day to type something on here. You da man Smile .

As for my predictions, I really like the Sharks this year. They have depth, play good defense, and have the Cup winning goaltender from last year in net. The Caps are in the same boat - sound defensively, balance, and better than adequate goaltending. Neuvirth, Varlamov, and Holtby (if it comes to it) may not have a whole lot of experience, but neither did Niemi last year. I really think that'll be the matchup in June.
