ok so my Cuba prediction didn't go well (to put it mildly) but I still stand by my final prediction, Go USA!

Gold Cup Predictions

Looking forward to the start of the Gold Cup this weekend, if Costa Rica underestimates Cuba it could be an interesting opening match (maybe with a surprising result). It's not well known that Cuba was actually in the 1938 world cup and their opening game was a huge upset of Romania. Maybe they can bring some of that 1938 magic this weekend against the Ticos! Linares and Duarte are talented forwards who can be dangerous for the cubans, vamos Cuba!

Gold Cup Predictions

I agree that it would make it interesting to see another team win the cup, but as a die-hard USA fan I'm always going to want to see them win it. As for Cuba, I think they are one of those teams who can surprise in any given match. I remember seeing them score early on Mexico in a previous gold cup match at Giants Stadium and even though Mexico came back to win it, they were still a bit shocked after Cuba scored a great goal. Since I have cuban heritage I guess that is a factor also, but I have a feeling that they could pull some upsets in the tournament which would be exciting.

Also, I am surprised you have Cuba go that far. How come?

Gold Cup Predictions

I agree that the US will be looking to win it all.  However, I believe Mexico has a much stronger team and will win this tournament no matter who the rival is. Another thing, this tournament has become old and stale with how predictable it is (either a US or Mexico win). It would be nice to see a different team win the cup for once wouldn't you agree?

Gold Cup Predictions

Thanks for your predictions CaraNance, I agree that Mexico will definitely be a lock for the final (but I still think the US will be looking to make up for the 5-0 defeat last time so they will be a strong contender for the cup also).
