Alabama, LSU, Okla State top my AP ballot

NEW ORLEANS – Based on Alabama’s dominating performance in Monday night’s BCS title game, the Crimson Tide are ranked No. 1 on my final Associated Press ballot.

Alabama (12-1) was ranked No. 3 on my final regular season ballot, but the Tide were impressive enough to leap LSU and Oklahoma State. LSU (13-1) may have had the most impressive regular season in college football history, but I only ranked the Tigers No. 2

Despite Oklahoma State’s victory against Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl, I dropped the Cowboys from No. 2 to No. 3. Their victory wasn’t dominating enough for me to keep Oklahoma State (12-1) in my top two.

Here is my final AP ballot for 2011. Last week’s rankings in parenthesis.

1. Alabama (3)
The Crimson Tide finished 12-1, defeating LSU in the BCS title game.

2. LSU (1)
The Tigers finished 13-1, losing to Alabama in the BCS title game.

3. Oklahoma State (2)
The Cowboys finished 12-1, defeating Stanford 41-38 in overtime in the Fiesta Bowl.

4. Oregon (4)
The Ducks finished 12-2, defeating Wisconsin 45-38 in the Rose Bowl.

5. Boise State (6)
The Broncos finished 12-1, defeating Arizona State 56-24 in Las Vegas Bowl.

6. Arkansas (8)
The Razorbacks finished 11-2, defeating Kansas State 29-16 in the Cotton Bowl.

7. USC (9)
The Trojans finished 10-2 and were not eligible for a bowl game.

8. Stanford (5)
The Cardinal finished 11-2, losing to Oklahoma State 41-38 in overtime in the Fiesta Bowl.

9. South Carolina (10)
The Gamecocks finished 11-2, defeating Nebraska 30-13 in the Capital One Bowl.

10. Wisconsin (7)

One problem with your Example,

Except Texas almost beat you in that game with a backup freshman quarterback. Where did the SEC's awesome dominating defense go? That's why the games should be played on the field. You never know. Ok State deserves a chance that's all I'm saying. The only reason Alabama is #1 today is because they got a chance. That's all anyone deserves. That's why we need a playoff. End the SHAM. End the Toll Ride that is the BCS. We all pay for this sham, let's end it now.

You obviously don't spend much time talking to other people. Find me one team in college football outside of Bama or LSU that could beat the other. They are two juggernauts, and without question, the best two teams played.

My heart goesoutto the entire community at Ok St. What they endured the day of their loss should have earned the team a mulligan. That is one more reason why their should be a tourney!!! But their bowl game vs Stanford was a very unimpressive win over a team that nobody credibly placed in top 5 by seasons end! And Alabama was unstoppable this season save the loss to LSU. And that first game was dominated by Alabama but they just couldn't quite code the deal. 4 game winning missed field goals and a ball stripped at the one yard line were all that gave the Tigers the win. The rest of the season they each beat up on everyone in their path. Convincingly. last night's mauling was a vindication of the earlier loss. This time they didn't miss those key field goals. And their D was even more relentless. And as the lead expanded, they just kept, well, rolling! Great season tide. Roll tide roll.

Alabama, LSU, Okla State top my AP ballot

what if every deserved team (outside the suc) got another chance to defend a loss and win the national title when they didnt even win their conference in past years. this just proved the joke of the BcS and the pollsters telling us they were voting LSU no.1 even if they lost. oh guess what if we had a playoff...both teams probably would have been ousted early. what a sham college football is for giving one conference gifts to the championship game when other conferences arent deemed worthy and WON their own conf. what a SHAM college football is. the pollsters tried to shove that LSUs defense was so good, its no offense could win it all. oklahoma state and oregon were robbed. oregon won its conference and how in hell was alabama any more worthy of a rematch than oregon? im so sick of the cheat job of one conference being able to rule college football. its not a paper championship but thats how the ncaa treats it. college football is scared if there were a playoff that their almighty suc might be outted as a fraud of this best conf the media gives it, if no teams made it to the final game if there were a playoff. saying and doing it = the nfl, the ncaa basketball championship, etc...any other championship beside the cheating ncaa final. there is NOBODY outside of alabama who thinks alabama is the best team and should be the lone championship. what BULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLsh!t

Until the rest of the country realizes that defense wins games, the SEC will continue to win National Championships. Its's just the way it is. A defense not only stops a team from scoring, it can also score points. An offense may be able to put points on the board, but an offense never stops another team from scoring. An offense turns the ball over, a defense recovers. If a QB has an off day or is out of the game, the entire offense pays the price (Example: Colt McCoy getting hurt in the 2009 NC). If a defensive lineman or cornerback has a bad game, there are defensive ends and safetys to pick up the slack.
