Tiger Woods is back on the comeback trail. Again. This run will feature the former No. 1 golfer in the world playing at Firestone's Bridgestone Invitational as well as the PGA Championship in two weeks. (And, if he really needs the FedEx Cup points, a stint in Greensboro at the Wyndham Championship.)

It will also feature a new caddy, Byron Bell. And some new shoes! Tiger's heading back on the trail this time wearing a prototype golf shoe inspired by the FREE technology that Nike recently introduced.

You can see the shoe above and, frankly, it looks different than any golf shoe I've ever seen a professional golfer wear. That's primarily because they don't look as rigid as most golf shoes (though that rigid nature is usually what provides the stability needed for golfers who are standing still while swinging), and almost have a crosstrainer feel to them.

"This will help give Tiger greater stability as he addresses the ball," Tobie Hatfield, a design Director at Nike, said. "The freedom of movement that natural motion technology delivers will also allow more power to be released through the swing rather than through the body – which can happen when
your feet are too static."

Tiger mentioned that he uses the FREE technology -- 'a natural motion technology that is designed to mimic and conform tot he natural motion of the foot,' according to Nike -- in his training shoes and that led to him asking Hatfield to design a golf shoe that would work on the course.

Whether it works -- and whether Tiger is able to storm back onto the PGA Tour's leaderboard remains to be seen. But you can bet that if he does perform to Tiger-like standards in the next few weeks, there'll at least be some folks interested in his new shoes.

It is a very funny thing that the sleepier you are, the longer you take about getting to bed; especially if you are lucky enough to have a fire in your room. Jill felt she couldn't even start undressing unless she sat down in front of the fire for a bit first. And once she had sat down, she didn't want to get up again. She had already said to herself about five times, I must go to bed, when she was startled by a tap on the window. She got up, pulled the curtain, and at first saw nothing but darkness. Then she jumped and started backwards, for something very large had dashed itself against the window, giving a sharp tap on the glass as. it did so. A very unpleasant idea came into her head - Suppose they have giant moths in this country! Ugh! But then the thing came back, and this time she was almost sure she saw a beak, and that the beak had made that tapping noise. It's some huge bird, thought Jill. Could it be an eagle? She didn't very much want a visit even from an eagle, but she opened the window and looked out. Instantly, with a great whirring noise, the creature alighted on the window-sill and stood there filling up the whole window, so that Jill had to step back to make room for it. It was the Owl. Hush, hush! Tu-whoo, tu-whoo, said the Owl. Don't make a noise. Now, are you two really in earnest about what you've got to do? About the lost Prince, you mean? said Jill. Yes, we've got to be. For now she remembered the Lion's voice and face, which she had nearly forgotten during the feasting and story-telling in the hall. Good! said the Owl. Then there's no time to waste. You must get away from here at once. I'll go and wake the other human. Then I'll come back for you. You'd better change those court clothes and put on something you can travel in. I'll be back in two twos. Tu-whoo! And without waiting for an answer, he was gone. If Jill had been more used to adventures, she might have doubted the Owl's word, but this never occurred to her: and in the exciting idea of a midnight escape she forgot her sleepiness. She changed back into sweater and shorts there was a guide's knife on the belt of the shorts which might come in useful - and added a few of the things that had been left in the room for her by the girl with the willowy hair. She chose a short cloak that came down to her knees and had a hood,a few handkerchiefs and a comb. Then she sat down and waited. She was getting sleepy again when the Owl returned. Now we're ready, it said. You'd better lead the way, said Jill. hyd

As recent economic reports fan fears and paint a dim jobs picture in the US and Europe, economists are predicting the worst economic recovery in the post-World War era. Policy-makers around the globe have put creating jobs on as their top agenda. It was also a hot topic at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Latin America, held last week in the beautiful seaside town of Puerto Vallarta. At the Young Global Leader (YGL) Annual Summit that took place alongside the WEF meeting, President Felipe Caldron of Mexico, himself a YGL from the class of 1997, shared his vision on channeling long-dated pension assets into infrastructure investments, with an aim to create economic growth and jobs.In the aftermath of the global crisis, advanced and emerging economies diverge in many areas. The Euro zone has been dealing with banking and sovereign debt crises. In the US, the government and private debt, as well as slow-recovering job market dominate the market sentiment. India is dealing with its perpetual poverty and income disparity challenges, while uk is trying to beef up its domestic demand. In all these countries, however, infrastructure development is seen as a key driver that could create jobs in the near terms and build a platform for growth in the future. McKinsey projected that $8 trillion will be committed in Asia over the next decade to infrastructure projects to remedy historical underinvestment and to accommodate the explosion in demand. The World Bank put the annual infrastructure deficit in Africa at $93 billion. So why is a major global infrastructure expansion not happening? At a well-attended WEF lunch discussion on infrastructure investments chaired by my good friend Reuben Abraham from India School of Business, I shared with the audience some of my views on this question. The biggest challenge today is the lack of long-termism and excessive reliance on liquidity in capital deployment. Take Asia as an example. In developing Asia, the savings rate is about 37%, far above the level of infrastructure investment that is needed at 20%. Asia's sovereign wealth funds manage over $1,200 billion of assets, and government pension assets in Asia exceed $1,500 billion. However, infrastructure project finance receives very little funding from these sources. zby

Tiger Woods' Nike FREE shoes: coming soon...

When Tiger wins again, which will happen, Nike will be tripping over themselves to get this shoe out on the market.
Though Tiger-hating will remain a profession for those who post from their parents' basements, his scandal will soon reach "dead horse" status in the eyes of the mainstream.  When that happens, it will be time to rehabilitate his image.  Tiger has been a bit more forthcoming in interviews lately.  The next step is to figure out just how much he has to reveal to the public to keep from being seen as "aloof," and how much he can continue to keep to himself.
Ultimately, though, it still comes down to one thing: winning tournaments.  The minute Tiger returns to form, the torch and pitchfork crowd will find another object for their scorn and derision.  When that happens, Nike will be there to recoup their investment over the last few years.

As for that torch and pitchfork crowd: does anyone find it odd that a half African-American golfer is still being bludgeoned in the "court of public opinion" almost three years after his consensual indescretions were revealed, while a white quarterback accused of sexual assault is a "hero" again, a mere seventeen months after the investigation was dropped?
I certainly do.

Very cool shoes, BUT... it says it allows freedom of movement in the feet. Saying this one would play golf in the stiff "rigid" shoes their whole life and adjust accordingly. It could be great, it could go awry. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first round Tiger has played in them.I would like to see the "barefoot shoes" with some cleats on the bottom for golf, maybe that comes at the PGA for Tiger! ha
