Rich Rodriguez will be the next head football coach at Arizona, athletic director Greg Byrne has announced on his Twitter account.

He's expected to bring several of his assistants from Michigan and West Virginia with him to Tucson.

The 48-year-old Rodriguez, who was fired after three seasons at Michigan, had spent the past season working as a college football analyst for CBS. At Michigan, he went 15-22. Before his turbulent stint in Ann Arbor, he coached his alma mater West Virginia to a 60-26 record in seven seasons. His final three seasons, he led the Mountaineers to top 12 finishes and two BCS bowl games.

Rodriguez will take over an Arizona team that is 3-8. The school fired Mike Stoops at midseason.

It's not Michigan but it's a better job than WVU. I'll give him 2 years before he screws up. Rich Rod is not a major conference type of coach. He's better off in the big east or another minor conference.

Michigan ought to be ashamed of the way they treated this guy.  Granted, it was a bad match from the very beginning but apparently integrity doesn't count for crap anymore...

I'm pulling for coach R. in Arizona, which figures to be a much better fit for all involved

Let Michigan keep things "the way they've always been"...we've been loving it down here in Columbus!

I hope your expectations on defense and special teams aren't very high, Wildcats fans.  Good luck!

"Have fun @ the Scrub My Back in the Shower Bowl if Penn State ignores common sense and accepts any bowl invite."

That's just a little slice of awesome!

Hey chrisbyron-4; you're a funny dude! The PAC 12 isn't on the level of the Big 10? Come on bro; nobody from the grandpa conference could keep up with USC, Oregon, or Stanford. The Ducks are already 13 point favorites vs. either Sparty or Bucky in Vegas. Have fun @ the Scrub My Back in the Shower Bowl if Penn State ignores common sense and accepts any bowl invite.

Always the hate. Michigan was in a terrible mess and is also a different league. Don't forget that Hoke is playing with Rodriguez players. And hate to break to the Michigan fans, but you are no longer a power house as you were in the past. You willnot compete with the SEC again. That looked pretty plain after last year.

I don't care how many people talk bad about Rodriguez,  he's gotta be able to lead us too a better season than the one we are having so far this year(3-8, 2-7).
As a die hard Wildcats fan i'm looking forward to the start of the new era of wildcats football
GO CATS!!!!

You have got to be kidding me. He couldn't win at Michigan. Well , I guess there is another side. The PAC 12 is not the same quality of conference as the Big Ten or SEC so I guess he could win out there. I just heard earlier tonight on Talkin Football that Georgia was going to play Penn State in the Outback Bowl. That would be a great game. I think I'll go head and buy my . That is a game I would love to see.Cool

Arizona, I don't know how much farther you can stoop to the bottom without meeting Satan.  I would say if you were a decent team, say hello to under .500 for the next several years and probation following the firing of your new Cerberus.  But seeing how you have nothing to loose and that Lane Kiffin is allowed in your conference...  why not.
