Andruw Jones and the Yankees have reached an agreement on a $2 million deal plus incentives for 2012, pending a physical.

Jones had a nice year with the Yankees in 2011, and both sides were thrilled with how things went, both on the field and in the clubhouse. Jones, who was believed to have received some interest from the Red Sox and Orioles, among others, clearly wanted to remain a Yankee. He also has transitioned nicely to a part-time role after beginning his career as a star.

Jones hit .246 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI with New York in 2011.

Andruw Jones reaches deal to stay with Yankees

Lol! Some fans think he can actually be a stater for a whole season ? Must be a reason why he's only getting $2 mil/ year and that being from the Yanks who are very rich and deep in the pockets

He's a bench player and that's that, ot other teams would attempt to make him a STARTER

hpterpland, lets start reading some farm reports chief. to say there the yanks have no future, but to know nothing about the yankees farm system is pretty dumb. the yanks have one of the better farms in baseball right now and strong youth all over the roster.

Having Jones on the bench is AMAZING!! He can play left and right and even Center if he has to.
He still has a Canon for an arm and still has some Pop, Sure he is not thesme player he was 10 years ago but for a Bench player he is a good 1. Now if the Yankees are really smart they will resign E Chavez, Its always a great thing to have a former Gold Glove on the bench with Chavez and Jones. The Yanks will be there this season, They wil wait unti late June a nd pull the trigger on a bid deal.
Besides we are getting Joba back thats better then most free agents you could grab, But the Jones move was a Smart 1.

GO YANKS!!!! Cant wait to ROCK Boston and their Chicken and beer drinking Fat lazy good for AZZ!!

Andruw Jones reaches deal to stay with Yankees

Don't get me wrong I always have liked A. Jones, especially when he was with the Braves, but serioulsy 2 mil for a pt player who hit .246. It must be really nice these days to have been a someone and now a somewhat to be able to garner this type of income for a parttime job. More power to you Mr. Jones if you can get 2 mil for sitting on your arse and having a great  seat to watch the Yankees play every day and all you have to do is put on a uniform and maybe hit 240ish.

Well said. Jones said he ran into problems with the White Sox when he didn't get to play for 7 days or so and I thought Girardi would have been wise enough to avoid making the same mistake but he didn't. But Jones made adjustments to excel after sitting for a number of games and it showed after the ASG. The improvment against RHP was good to see as well. His memorable long AB against the BoSox to work a walk was huge one game. He needs more than 190 ab's though. I wouldn't be surprised if Swisher is traded for pitching and Jones gets 400 or so of the RF AB's and puts up impressive power numbers and strong OBP.

Sorry to say Yankees are going to be on downslope for next 5 years.  Think about it.  Riviera 40 yrs old might not make it through season, A-Rod a cripple who will hit 250 with possibly 20 25 hrs and 80rbis, Jeter 275 and not covering much area around ss, swisher nothing exciting.  Only guys with any future are Granderson, Cano and Robinson and the one young starter (cannot remember his name).  Catcher will be ok as well.  Lucky they  are in a weak division with no outstanding teams.  I see Yankees a 500 team for the near future.

Wow America is in a recession and the Yankees give this old broken down has been that kind of loot.  Come on Cashman go get hot rookies and develope them. Any Yankee fan can take one mediocre season for a rebuilding phase. We are getting older and need some young superstars. And im all for spending that cash on pitching. You maybe able to hit 5 homers a game but when you allow 6 you didnt do anything to great.
