The Boston Red Sox who year after year have had one of the highest payrolls in Major League Baseball an who  have been a major player in the annual free agent market have decided to take different route. With  recent failures to reach the playoffs and third place finishes the past two years  this has prompted the changing of the minds of ownership and management alike . The debacle of last September has forced the Red Sox to take along look at the reality of their recent signings and now are bit players in the free agent market . Last years signing of Carl Crawford and getting Adrian Gonzalez via trade did not payoff the way" Red Sox Nation" had hoped ,and with the past signings of J.D.Drew,John Lackey and others they have obviously decided to take a different route. As the Red Sox have decided frugal is better their American League counterparts have made a splash in the free agent pool. The Angels,Rangers,Yankees and most recently the Tigers have all improved themselves over the off season.Entering the off season the Red Sox had many holes to fill and have not seriously addressed them up to the present .Red Sox fans put their heart and soul not to mention their hard earned money into supporting a good product on the field and will have little patience for a lackluster effort by both ownership and management to put a winner on the field.
