With the whole conference realignment situation right
now, one of the teams that are in contention to join the Atlantic 10 is the
Quinnipiac Bobcats. With Temple leaving the Atlantic 10 and joining the Big
East, it opened up the door for the conference to expand. Butler is the newest
member to join the Atlantic 10. Can anyone imagine what impact joining the
Atlantic 10 would have on Quinnipiac? Quinnipiac would have teams like Butler,
George Washington, and Xavier playing against them at home. Their home games
would be sold out.
In the past Quinnipiac had a few games on NESN and SNY,
but now the school could have their games on television on a regular basis.
When Tom Moore left UConn to take over as Quinnipiac’s head coach, he was very
big on trying to get big recruits to join his program. Joining the Atlantic 10
would allow Quinnipiac to emerge from being a smaller program off the radar to
becoming a good competitive men’s basketball team.
