Giants a very worthy opponent

Everyone has been mentioning the N.Y. Giants' pass rush as a key to the team's success. However, to me, it's been the consistent play of Eli Manning, who has been very solid in his previous four games. He's playing well and has limited his mistakes.

On another note, the Giants will travel to Green Bay and will have a very good chance of winning at Lambeau Field. The temperature is expected to be very cold, which could benefit the Giants' defense. Everyone knows the secondary is banged up and that Brett Favre will attempt to exploit it. However, if it's cold and if both teams are relagated to running the ball, that's to New York's advantage.

this matchup is going be a good one on Sunday. I believe if the Giants can survive and pull this one out that they can give the Patriots a run for their money in the Super Bowl (assuming the Pats beat the Chargers). But thats getting ahead of myself...

Eli has put together the best 3 game streak of his short 61 game career so far and is peaking at the perfect time. His two previous playoff performances coming into this year were shaky but he improved with each loss and gained more experience. Every QB needs that. The weather conditions will definately be a factor on Sunday and Eli has to show me that he can perform in the cold. His receivers need to catch the ball when its thrown to them and the ground game of Jacobs & Bradshaw needs to be effective (4 to 5 yards per carry).

The other key component is the Giants secondary vs the Packers speedy WRs. Jennings, Driver and Jones could light the G-Men up all day long with their good route running skills and elusiveness. The Giants defensive scheme will need to be different than the one they used against Dallas. They played a base defense in the 1st half to see what the Cowboys were going to do and then made adjustments at the half and started to blitz heavily in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I think they will need to be in Farve's face from the start and make him throw off his back foot. He is known to be a gun-slinger and it wasnt too long ago that he threw almost 30 INTs in one season.

The key for the Giants defense: Get in Farve's face and see what happens. Hopefully he doesn't improv too well this week...

I don't question that Green Bay is a very good team, and one of the most dangerous with favre at the helm, but i think that if the giants are on their game like they have been the last few weeks, the pack is going to have a tough time at lambou

I agree with that, Eli has been playing out of his mind in the last three games (122.2 passer rating). Yes New York has won 9 straight road games, but perhaps the most impressive feat is their narrow 38-35 defeat at the hands of 17-0 New England during week 17. The team is dangerous, as a Packer fan I just hope the youngest team in the league doesn't underestimate them
