Here we go again ...

More new football uniforms from Oregon. I believe this is the 39th time Oregon has updated or changed their uniforms in the past decade. It's getting a little out of control.

The press release states:

Nike designers have made advancements from Oregon's last update in 2006, which featured uniforms that were more durable and 28-percent lighter than the previous generation. The latest editions have improved ergonomics and ventilation characteristics, and feature laminate numbering that does not soak up any moisture and has an 85-percent weight differential compared to traditional tackle twill.

Laminate anti-abrasion shoulder reinforcement, in the form of wings, takes the place of "diamond plate" on the current jersey, a 200-percent savings in weight differential between materials.

Translation -- No more tire tracks on the shoulders. The jerseys now have wings. (Get it, Ducks have wings.)

But my favorite part is Oregon now has 80 different combinations (jersey/pants/helmet) at their disposal. That's insane.

With most of the Oregon uniform changes, I think they are awful. Here are the pics for 2009. What do you think?

Personally, I liked these uniforms back in the day.

If only Oregon would spend as much time and money getting these STUDENT-athletes in class and graduating.  Gray?  I thought their colors were green and gold!  What a crock.

These uniforms are hideous. In addition, the guy in the silver and black seems to have either a backwards 5 or an upside down 2. The designer for these unis must be a real "quack".

They have got to be joking right? Those are without a doubt the ugliest uniforms in the country. They are hideous. If I were a Duck, i'd transfer, that's how bad they are. They look like they play (in the old) Division ll.

It will give them an edge though, the opponents will be laughing too hard to play them. I am glad my beloved Wildcats from Kentucky don't play them.
henryville, that's hilarious, of all the comments on this board, this was far and away the stupidest.  Yeah, Oregon's players should transfer after these jerseys, huh?  Did you even read anything about the jerseys?  If you did, then you'd know that THE PLAYERS HELPED DESIGN THESE JERSEYS!!!!!  Also, what's the "old" division II?

If I were you, I'd be glad that Kentucky doesn't play them either, that would be an automatic loss and then you might not make it to 7 wins.  How's Rich Brooks doing for you guys?  At least he won us a conference title before he left here.  He wins 7 games for you guys and you guys are celebrating by plastering his face on whiskey bottles.

Wow, what a bunch of whiners all of you guys are.  Jealous of Oregon's relationshsip with Nike?  Most likely.  Hmmmm, I wonder what the purpose of new uniforms could be?  It couldn't possibly be to get people talking about Oregon, could it?  No possible way that sort of marketing could possibly work...could it?  Oh wait, it is working, all you "traditionalists" are talking about it.  Sorry Oregon doesn't stick with the traditional monotoned helmet with a stripe down the middle.

I know things should always stay the same.  In fact, I'm going to stop cheering for the Ducks because of this.  Also, I'm going to give up on my cell phone because all the changes they've made to it to make it perform better are just annoying.  My flat screen TV is coming off the wall and I'm going to go by a tube TV and a giant stand that takes up half my living room.  I would much prefer it if my car could turn into the '92 version of it, forget about fuel efficiency, convenience, and less maintenance; these things should not be changing.  Hold on, the new Pepsi logo sucks so I should stop drinking it.

Why does everyone want the new iPod?  How did Pepsi catch up to coke?  Why are energy drinks so popular?  The list goes on and on and on.  MARKETING to a new generation.  Will you still have the traditionalists who prefer coke?  Will you still have VHS-guy who is unwilling to let go of his videos for the more convenient DVDs, or heaven forbid, blu-ray?  Of course you will have these types.  Like Alabama-guy who thinks it's necessary to have a stripe and jersey numbers on the helmet.  Or, Penn St.-guy who thinks plain is the best.  Recruits who like tradition will choose these schools.  Recruits who want things more cutting edge will pick schools like Oregon and traditionalists will cry about how jersey changes mean nothing and "you should try winning" and blah blah blah blah blah, but the fact of the matter is this,  Here it is just barely summer time, when a lot of recruits are making choices, and which team is in the news?

Wings.... for those heavy flow days.

Now all that is needed is a feather-boa to top off the look.

I'll take the plain, traditional uni's from Penn State, Notre Dame, Alabama and Michigan over any of these.  These are rediculous.

I agree 100% with this comment.  The REAL teams such as those above along with OU, Texas, Ohio State, SC and a few others change their uniforms very rarely and the changes are modest.  Also, those teams actually wear their school colors as many have mentioned before.  I would be humiliated if I had to wear these things as a player.  I wonder if any recruits were so turned off by those clown outfits that they decided to go somewhere else?

Those are ugly.

Still, I will say they are probably better looking then the Philadelphia Eagles 75th aniversary throwbacks (gold and blue).  Then again, I'm 1 of maybe 5 or 6 people that actually liked those.

These things are ugly though.  Downright, ugly.

At least the uniforms are directly influenced by the players, and if the players say this is what they want, why not let the athelte decide whats best? Yes the wings will take a little getting used to, but the uniforms are now much lighter than anything else in the country. The technical reason for the wings is that they support the shouder area withouth adding that much weight. If the players want super light with support so that their jersey doesn't fall apart, then I think Nike did a great job. The colors could use a little work, but like I said at the start this seems to be what the younger kids like so if that does anything to help get recruits I'm all for it. I do agree that they should try and go back to more simplier uniforms now and try and keep them just as light weight, but if that is impossible then let the players keep the really light uniforms. If nothing else the Ducks get a week of each year to have some free press.
