Here we go again ...

More new football uniforms from Oregon. I believe this is the 39th time Oregon has updated or changed their uniforms in the past decade. It's getting a little out of control.

The press release states:

Nike designers have made advancements from Oregon's last update in 2006, which featured uniforms that were more durable and 28-percent lighter than the previous generation. The latest editions have improved ergonomics and ventilation characteristics, and feature laminate numbering that does not soak up any moisture and has an 85-percent weight differential compared to traditional tackle twill.

Laminate anti-abrasion shoulder reinforcement, in the form of wings, takes the place of "diamond plate" on the current jersey, a 200-percent savings in weight differential between materials.

Translation -- No more tire tracks on the shoulders. The jerseys now have wings. (Get it, Ducks have wings.)

But my favorite part is Oregon now has 80 different combinations (jersey/pants/helmet) at their disposal. That's insane.

With most of the Oregon uniform changes, I think they are awful. Here are the pics for 2009. What do you think?

Personally, I liked these uniforms back in the day.

Can't wait for Boise State and Utah to take down the Ducks, there is a reason the coach took the AD job.

Yes you guys are falling for the trick.
We want the nation to be too preoccupied by our jerserys to see that the Ducks are ready for the NC.
So please be distracted by the jerseys.
Because the players in them are ready for some blood.

I just don't think their is any good way to put duck feathers on a uniform and have it look like a serious uniform.  Other than that it didn't look too bad.

The good thing is, it won't affect their skill level.  If they can give more competition to USC, I'd be happy.

It's cool.  I understand the envy.  It is well known that Nike has a special relationship with the U of O.  There is not a single school that would not to have that relationship, so people can hate all they want, but that is not going to change.  Nike and the University of Oregon are innovators and it takes innovation to create great things in America.  Oregon finished #9 last year and is now has a consistently good football program that is attracting recruits from all over the nation.  As an Oregon fan, I now expect a National Championship capable team, but Oregon cannot do that without attracting national talent.  The uniforms certainly grab the attention of recruits and help Nike from a marketing standpoint, so say what you want, but the new unis are great and the Ducks have set a precedent for innovation and I see all of the negative feedback as envy more than anything.

If you just got rid of the wings and used a real font for the numbers instead of one of those retarded modern fonts, they would be awesome.

Is anyone really surprised?  Oregon has had some of the worst uni's in all of college football for years and it appears that they will again for years to come!  I like the idea for a bill on the front of the helmet .....

I KNOW its a 2!  But my comment was sarcastic in order to bring to attention the horrible design of the numbers.

Well it's a good thing nobody here is every going to play college football..or ever has. These are for the kids. Not for the 250lb slobs munching on fried mayonaise balls and posting homer predictions on their season.

The kids made these...and the kids love 'em. Yeah they're a little weird, but I like the fact that Oregon is breaking tradition in a sport thats been beginning to break tradition for years.

But Darst is right..that old Harrington era uniform is the best ever. Loved it.

I agree; especially about the money, beavsrule; Oregon uses their relationship with Nike as a recruiting tool.  It isn't much, but every little bit helps land athletes, even if they are walk-ons.
