Oregon's new uniforms -- Wings!

Here we go again ...

More new football uniforms from Oregon. I believe this is the 39th time Oregon has updated or changed their uniforms in the past decade. It's getting a little out of control.

The press release states:

Nike designers have made advancements from Oregon's last update in 2006, which featured uniforms that were more durable and 28-percent lighter than the previous generation. The latest editions have improved ergonomics and ventilation characteristics, and feature laminate numbering that does not soak up any moisture and has an 85-percent weight differential compared to traditional tackle twill.

Laminate anti-abrasion shoulder reinforcement, in the form of wings, takes the place of "diamond plate" on the current jersey, a 200-percent savings in weight differential between materials.

Translation -- No more tire tracks on the shoulders. The jerseys now have wings. (Get it, Ducks have wings.)

But my favorite part is Oregon now has 80 different combinations (jersey/pants/helmet) at their disposal. That's insane.

With most of the Oregon uniform changes, I think they are awful. Here are the pics for 2009. What do you think?

Personally, I liked these uniforms back in the day.

The helmet is pretty sharp looking, I like that.  Other than that....I think I could do without another new batch of uniforms.  The only team I actually like the yellow jerseys of is the Lakers.  Outside of that, yellow is a hideous color for a uniform.  From the pics, I couldn't tell if one was gray or green....if it was green it was a terrible shade....and if it was gray.....WHY USE GRAY????  The futuristic numbers do nothing to help these duds.  The black was nice (other than the numbers), while black is not a color I associate with ducks, I think black is always a nice color on uniforms.  Go to a dark emerald green of a forest green....with yellow numbers (that is the only time yellow is ok outside of helmets or the Lakers).  White with black numbers and dark green pants would be nice.

I think these colors would be ok with better-styled numbers.

Oregon's new uniforms -- Wings!

Quite possibly the ugliest uniforms I have ever seen.  The  wings are bad enough, but  the numbers  are absolutely  hideous.

Oregon's new uniforms -- Wings!

I didn't know Carbon was a school color.  The Pewter made sense for the Buccaneers because they had horrible creamsicle uniforms.  Good Lord, Oregon, just stop!  You can no longer have new uniforms until you win a Rose Bowl.  What was wrong with the uniforms when Joey Harrington played, stop with metal crap on the shoulders and carbon and freaking wings.  You aren't the Iowa Barnstomers, you're representing a chunk of Oregonians.

The sad thing, my friends who are Oregon Duck fans think the uniforms are awesome.  It hurts to see smart people be dumb.

That's exactly what I think. The color shades are terrible. The previous green color was fine (really nice shade actually), it was just on a terrible uniform. Now it's even worse. They look so generic. Like they went and found them at the clearance rack in K-Mart.

And the wings. First of all, could you make them any smaller? Are the duck wings literally to scale? It's lame. Someone needs to be fired. Or someone at USC that told Nike "make them terrible or we end out sponsorship with you" needs a promotion. Either way. BLAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

At least the primary colors are more subdued than those in the past, the overall color scheme is better and not so "traffic sign" loud.

Tire tread was kinda cool, in my opinion, better than wings.

If I were a fan of Oregon, I would get tired of the constant uniform changes but call me "old school" since I like tradition over updating to current trends.

I guess Oregon can't complain since Nike is bankrolling all of these changes and costs.

Those unis have been hit with the ugly stick more times than we can count. Who on earth is doing their design out there and what has he/she been smoking??

Well, I can't believe this is actually news. On a bright side, if you are not going to win the Pac-10, you may as well have uniforms that keep you relevant.

This is nuts. No wonder people get sick of the spending on college athletics. Even if Nike "foots the bill" for new Duck uniforms, isn't there something that could help the program more than having "80 different combinations" of uniforms?

To quote King of the Hill: These uniforms look gayer than a box of birds!

I thought the treads were lame. But wings? Even worse. I can say I do like the new helmet though...
