How to Play:

It's simple, really. Look at the sports-related pictures above, and give us your funniest caption for any or all of them. You can write as many captions for each as you would like.

The contest runs daily, Monday-Thursday. Each day's contest will usually be posted by noon ET, and will usually end around 11 p.m. ET. If I decide that your caption is the funniest or most clever submitted for that picture, it will be declared a winner.

Winning captions will be announced when the contest ends. There will be one winner for each picture, and also one winner for the person who can string together the 5 best captions all with the same theme.

You will be awarded one point for each winning caption that you post. You will see a running tally on the scoreboard, which will be posted at the beginning and end of each day. At the end of each month a champion is declared, and we shower that user in praise and adulation! We add his screenname to the Wall-O-Fame, and then we start everyone's score back at 0.

This contest is just for fun, and there are no real prizes at this time. Who thinks they can make us laugh? :)

#4) Playing for the United Arab Emirates with their many strick rules of conduct was difficult for Shaun at first, but over time he learned to adapt his behavior to avoid crossing the line, even to the point of still giving someone the finger.

#2) "... and in the news today from the nation's capitol, planners for the mall area revealed the latest bronze statue scheduled to be placed near the Lincoln Memorial in May, entitled after numerous revisions "The Ascension of Man", but known locally as "Joe and O".  "

Need to add a spellchecker for those of us illiterate, Joe...

Don't call it a comeback!

1) Brett Farve's secret move to baseball was going great until Jeter exposed his secret identity. How did that rugged gray stubble not ring a bell to us sports fans until now?

2) The rest of the guys from Michael Phelps' relay teams were desperate to emerge from the smoke screen (HA!) Phelps left behind, but nobody had the heart to tell them that the press didn't really cover the Gay Games.

3) Ryan Sandberg was desperate to relive his old Cubs glory, but many felt that taking the job of crazy cursed goat handler was demeaning to his legacy.

4) After losing two fingers during a horrible flopping accident in the champions leauge, "Three-Fingered Richard" cemented handicapped footballer of the year in the differently abled premier league when he kicked a penalty kick past veteran goalkeeper "One-legged Pete". (the Brits are very literal with their nicknames, it seems)

5) The Deustche Post logo makes a comeback to the photo caption contest, however in a way that is a million times less sexy then earlier this week.

1) "Mark Teixeira doesn't love me like you do. Did you get that stuff I ordered?"

2) Hal and Hank Steinbrenner will do anything to fill the seats.

3) "Excuse me Mr. Baldwin, but that goat looks nothing like Tina Fey."

4) "Read between the lines"

5) "Listen, we are all giants here. Can we just finish playing soccer."
