How to Play:

It's simple, really. Look at the sports-related pictures above, and give us your funniest caption for any or all of them. You can write as many captions for each as you would like.

The contest runs daily, Monday-Thursday. Each day's contest will usually be posted by noon ET, and will usually end around 11 p.m. ET. If I decide that your caption is the funniest or most clever submitted for that picture, it will be declared a winner.

Winning captions will be announced when the contest ends. There will be one winner for each picture, and also one winner for the person who can string together the 5 best captions all with the same theme.

You will be awarded one point for each winning caption that you post. You will see a running tally on the scoreboard, which will be posted at the beginning and end of each day. At the end of each month a champion is declared, and we shower that user in praise and adulation! We add his screenname to the Wall-O-Fame, and then we start everyone's score back at 0.

This contest is just for fun, and there are no real prizes at this time. Who thinks they can make us laugh? :)

Welcome back to the Colbert Report...This is the THREATDOWN!:

1) BEARS! - Bears have always been a menace to American, and now with Obama starting to hire for his new Death Panels, we see first hand how eager bears are to hold a seat on those communals. Frightning.

2) True Yankees - When we start allowing the true Yankee winners to start co-mingling with the loser Yankees of the 21st century, it doesn't give the modern Yanks a better chance to win, it gives the True Yankees a better chance of losing, should we ever invent the ability to replay sporting events from the past. You have a past legacy to protect, Mr. October, don't let A-Rod and the space-time continuam take that away from you!

3) Vikings - For years the Vikings have lacked the leadership to rape and plunder our cities. Now led by the ultimate gunslinger, we can only expert these savage Vikings to incorporate handguns into their deadly arsenal. Noone is safe!

4) Crying - Crying in your team picture? There's no crying in soccer! Wait, what is that? I'm being told there is tons of crying in soccer. Moving on.

5) Early 20th century style swimsuits - If today's youth turns to the fashion statements of the past, what is next? Can we afford to have a second generation fall victim to the hula hoop, the sock hop, and the satanic melodies of the Big Bopper?

#3 -
Reporter:
"Hey Brett!! Can we get a picture of the thumb you were sucking when you started whining that the Packers wouldn't let you back on the practice field and pay you what you think you deserve even though you already had a 7800sqft house in Mississippi and houses in Wisconsin, Arizona, and California and probably 48 cars to go with them and enough money to buy 48 more and women throwing themselves at you wherever you went? Huh? Can we?"

Brett:
"Uhhh...yeah. Here ya go."

2.)  The look of disgust on Reggie Jackson's face can only be generated from another one of A Rod's Madonna stories.  Mr. October had no problem with A Rod reminiscing, that is until Alex started "air groping" and making smoochie faces.
