How to play:

It's simple, really. Look at the sports-related pictures above, and give us your funniest caption for any or all of them. You can write as many captions for each as you would like.

The challenge runs daily, Monday-Thursday. Each day's competition will usually be posted by noon ET, and will usually end around 11 p.m. ET. On Monday and Wednesday, Community member ktopp24 will be the judge. On Tuesday and Thursday, I'll run the show. If one of the judges decide that your caption is the funniest or most clever submitted for that picture, it will be declared a winner.

Winning captions will be announced when that day's challenge ends. There will be one winner for each picture, and also one winner for the person who can string together the 5 best captions all with the same theme.

You will be awarded one point for each winning caption that you post. You will see a running tally on the scoreboard, which will be posted at the beginning and end of each day. At the end of each month a champion is declared, and we shower that user in praise and adulation! We add his screenname to the Wall-O-Fame, and then we start everyone's score back at zero.

This is just for fun, and there are no real prizes at this time. Who thinks they can make us laugh? :)

Joe - I know you don't want to be included in the points, but I couldn't let your beauty #2 entry go without any recognition. So I gave you 0.99 points for it. It's not quite a full point, but I gotta jump through those loopholes when I find them. Nice job dude!!!

#1 - Mr. Mo-Chi

Paris, 1902. Rodin gives us "The Thinker." Anaheim, 2010. Manuel gives us "The Confused."

#2 - kmvenne

Moved on to Heaven (God loves yachts....), George Steinbreinner is put in charge of Heaven's version of NASA, where he has already sent heavenly astronaut Billy Martin on 5 suicide missions.

#2A - Shuless Joe

Never one to be outdone by the Red Sox, George Steinbrenner trumps Ted Williams be having his body released in to orbit.

#3 - huachuca

No matter how many times they see it, when Leslie Nielson comes out as Enrico Palazzo it still makes ball players laugh.

#4 -Mr. Mo-Chi

This picture of David Ortiz was taken by the E! Channel. His fashion selection then drew comparisons to Barney, Grimace or a pimped out Mary Poppins.

#5 - kmvenne

Everyone's go to response to "Hey, What ya doing in Kansas City?"...

Theme - BuccinGator

A Simple Train Of Thought:

1) Deep in thought on how to break a long winless slump for the NL in the All-Star Game, Charlie stares intently into space ...

2) Where unbeknowst to him (but knownst to us), a diehard Yankees fan works on the International Space Station, who hurries inside ...

3) To watch the Homerun Derby, where his favorite players react ...

4) To the antics of winner David Ortiz.  Otriz celebrates in typical champion fashion by "Going To Disneyland," where he rides the classic "It's A Small World ..."

5) And speaking of small worlds, there are few smaller than that of Royal fans.  However, they can take some small solace in having the popular Will Ferrell amongst their numbers, although I still wonder whether he is Bewitched or if maybe some things truly are Stranger Than Fiction.

July Scoreboard
1. BuccinGator - 12
2. Mr. Mo-Chi - 7
3. kmvenne - 6
4. River_Rat - 4
5. huachuca - 3
5. WarpedMind - 3
6. ktopp24 - 2
6. D2Moo - 2
7. momluvsfootball - 1
7. EagleMtnAirtax - 1
7. turbozo - 1
8. Shuless Joe - 0.99

On Benches, Sitting, and Stadiums.........

1,  Charlie Manuel was just sittng on the bench when it hit him, "Wow, I could've have had a V-8 but I'm too bored to hit myself on the side of my head like in the commerical."  then he went back to blankly staring at nothing in particular.

2,  Say, that upper deck in new Yankee Stadium is pretty high isn't it.

3.  A-Rod laughs when he finally figures out you need to earn as much as he does to afford those seats next to the on deck circle.

4.  Sitting here at Disneyland,
     Soaking up the shade
Big Papi and his little girl
     Hope her sunscreen doesn't fade.

5.  We've known for a long time our bench has been a joke in KC.  Well at least with these guys riding the pines, the jokes are entertaining anyway.

#1 If we can get in on the wild card, I promise to be this year's Santa in Macys.
#2 Not all players are on the DL for the same reason. The Yankees' Aceves is doing all he can do for NASA's National Guard.
3. And what if I don't play?  Heavens, Joe and your extensive fan base would never let that happen.

By the way, Joe, you used the scoreboard going into yesterday, not coming out of it.  Mo-Chi wants his two well deserved points.
O Snap!!

1) Well I'll be damned....they did find a way to work that old Rally Monkey into the game. OOOOOOH, HE DID A FLIP!!!!

2) Moved on to Heaven (God loves yachts....), George Steinbreinner is put in charge of Heaven's version of NASA, where he has already sent heavenly astronaut Billy Martin on 5 suicide missions.

3) A-Rod laughs at all his teammates and opponents before the game. Then, after not getting to play, he learns an important lesson about karma and female dogs....

4) After being unable to shade his family with this insulting umbrella, Big Papi goes to Red Sox management to demand an extension, so as to increase it's height and shade making ability. Somehow, Big Papi ends up signing a lifetime contract for $50 the process.

5) Everyone's go to response to "Hey, What ya doing in Kansas City?"...

Photo Caption Challenge: At the All-Star game!

The story behind #5 is simple.  There are three comics, Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, and Jason Sudeikis of SNL fame, that are from the KC suburb on the Kansas side.  All grew up within a mile of each other.  They host a poker tournament at a local casino for charity.  Will Farrell and a couple of others showed up to play and went to the Royals - Tigers game.  got the "Royal" treatment from the team so to speak.  A good time was had by all.

Hope that helps a little.

1. "Now if that lady would just lean over the rail a little bit more..."
2. Hoping to plug leaks in both holes, the Obama Administration announced today that they will be sending to help fix BP's deep oil rig.

3. Sadly the Boss was unable to see his dream fulfilled at the 2010 All-Star game, missing out by hours on the veritable proof that the Yankees had bought the best player at every position.

4. "I thought I was meeting Randy Jackson, who is this Rampage guy?? What a loser, he can't even sing!"

5. The Royals announced the signing of Will Ferrell to a 12 year, 100 million dollar contract today in Kansas City. Sources within the organization are being quoted as saying that his skills are not any worse than those of any other player we have used over the last two decades.
