How to play:

It's simple, really. Look at the sports-related pictures above, and give us your funniest caption for any or all of them. You can write as many captions for each as you would like.

The challenge runs daily, Monday-Thursday. Each day's competition will usually be posted by noon ET, and will usually end around 11 p.m. ET. On Monday and Wednesday, Community member ktopp24 will be the judge. On Tuesday and Thursday, I'll run the show. If one of the judges decide that your caption is the funniest or most clever submitted for that picture, it will be declared a winner.

Winning captions will be announced when that day's challenge ends. There will be one winner for each picture, and also one winner for the person who can string together the 5 best captions all with the same theme.

You will be awarded one point for each winning caption that you post. You will see a running tally on the scoreboard, which will be posted at the beginning and end of each day. At the end of each month a champion is declared, and we shower that user in praise and adulation! We add his screenname to the Wall-O-Fame, and then we start everyone's score back at zero.

This is just for fun, and there are no real prizes at this time. Who thinks they can make us laugh? :)

Eh... scrap that, guys. I may not have time to throw together the contest today. Ton of important meetings. If Ktopp wants to throw together a Lazy Joe, we can count those points, but, otherwise, I think were in for a day off.

My apologies... Undecided

Lazy Joe is up and running boys!!

And congrats to Buc as well for his 437th runner up ribbon. Nah, it's only my 9th (in 11 straight months, the other two I pulled the blind squirrel/acorn routine and won somehow).  Was late to the party.  Somehow I stumbled across it right at the start of 2009, and am glad I did.  Took me a while to get up to speed, too, unlike Mo-Chi and wilwhite.  Here's to the 32nd month of captioning fun (21st for me).

Everybody check your Chinese food menus... it's seems the season of the Rat is here again! Congrats, Rat! And congrats to everyone on another great month.

I know I haven't been able to play much lately, but the comments have outstanding, as always. And, on another note, I just thought I should mention Roger Clemens... who we all owe a great deal of thanks. It was a simple picture from Roger's 2008 Congressional hearing that got this whole caption contest started.

Roger... We give thanks for your misrememberings, and the 31 months of hilarity that have ensued.

September scoring starts tomorrow... Grab those early points!

Mr. Mo-Chi
1) That must have been some bachelor party. But, you know what they say? What happens in Pakistan.........!"

2.) Kadhafi's attempts to land a guest judge spot on Project Runway knew no bounds.

River_Rat
3. The player from I.R.Iran signals in the play as they hold a narrow lead over I.M.Spain.  If they can hold on, they will face the winner of I.C.Greece and I.B.Kenya.

4. At todays court appearance, the judge asked Roger how many times the senetors asked him if he had taken steroids.  Roger stomped his foot 6 times, his lawyer then rewarded him with a sugar cube.

5. If your teammate for a game of Chicken Fight is the invisable man, make sure you get on his shoulders from the correct direction.

Celebrating Rat As The Newest 5 Time, 5 Time, 5 Time, 5 Time, 5 Time CBS Caption Challenge Champion: (give us a spin-a-roony, Rat)

1) In recognition of his achievement, Rat had asked for 72 virgin asses to be spanked in his honor.  Unfortunately, something was lost in translation on the way to Kabul.

2) Rat finally reveals the intimidation technique used on ktopp to get out to such a fast start this month.

3) To inspire his captioning genius, Rat listens to "I Ran" by Flock of Seagulls.  Thankfully for the rest of us, his humor far outstrips his taste in music.

4) Growing a whole new set, Rat blatantly lies before a congressional hearing just like his idol Roger Clemens when it comes to wit enhancing substances in caption challenges.

5) At the celebration gala, Rat and his friends enjoy a performance by his personal favorites, the Kazakhstani National Synchronized Swimming Team.

1.  Baiting the umpire is universal.  The difference between us and the Middle East is we just call the ump an ass, we don't actually take one to the game to show him what he looks like.

2.  Every time I see a picture of someone like Kadaffi, Commisioners Bettman and Selig all of a sudden don't look so bad.

3.  If U R Iran, then I B America.  I guess bad english isn't only reserved for Americans but is universal.

4.  I always find it funny that Congressmen want to prosecute those who don't tell them the truth, yet many members of Congress themselves have a tough time dealing telling the truth themselves.  I guess it really does take one to know one.

5.  So we're to believe a water sprite just got a bit carried away and decided to perform a sex act on an unsupecting swimmer.  Are we sure Paris Hilton isn't hiding in that splash?
