How to play:

It's simple, really. Look at the sports-related pictures above, and give us your funniest caption for any or all of them. You can write as many captions for each as you would like.

The challenge runs daily, Monday-Thursday. Each day's competition will usually be posted by noon ET, and will usually end around 11 p.m. ET. On Monday and Wednesday, Community member ktopp24 will be the judge. On Tuesday and Thursday, I'll run the show. If one of the judges decide that your caption is the funniest or most clever submitted for that picture, it will be declared a winner.

Winning captions will be announced when that day's challenge ends. There will be one winner for each picture, and also one winner for the person who can string together the 5 best captions all with the same theme.

You will be awarded one point for each winning caption that you post. You will see a running tally on the scoreboard, which will be posted at the beginning and end of each day. At the end of each month a champion is declared, and we shower that user in praise and adulation! We add his screenname to the Wall-O-Fame, and then we start everyone's score back at zero.

River_Rat
1. A-Rod shows his teammates a game he use to play a few years ago.  The one where he would tightrope walk across Madonna's G-string and try not to fall in.

D2Moo
2.  After missing yet another cruical putt, Tiger finds the small label on the shaft with this disclaimer.  Warning, improper use of this putter may be hazardous to your income.

Buuba J
3) Angel we're glad you won team MVP but our budget was a little tight this year and after paying to get you out of jail we couldn't afford a Trophy but I want you to know if we could've it would a been this nice here at the top of page. We did manage to get that nice Certicate though.

#4 - After this interview, David Tua regretted hiring Wilford Brimley as his agent. Mainly because all Wilford did was talk about "Our House" episodes and Liberty Mutual medication. David didn't even know what "di-a-beet-us" was.

kmvenne
5) Once fall hits, the uber wealthy usually have no idea what to do with their immigrant gardeners. Some let them apply their craft towards fashion, with predictable results.

skinsinsk
If they were cartoon characters:

1) Hong Kong Phooey: Clearly inept and constantly bailed out by his sidekick cat: "Jetes."
2) Wile E. Coyote: He continues to chase elusive birdies only to be foiled by traps, hazards, and other avoidable mental hurdles set up by his own hands.
3) The Bookworm: An obscure character, finding popularity primarily outside of the U.S.
4) Droopy: He seems kinda funny and interesting at first, but as time goes by, he proves to be nothing short of depressing.
5) Tom and Jerry: Yeah, I know they're women. But be honest. Could two men be as devious, coniving, and hateful towards a "friend?" I didn't so.

1.  Major League Baseball, in their never ending efforts to keep the sport clean, decided to give every third basemen making over 15 million a year a field sobriety test.

2.  After missing yet another cruical putt, Tiger finds the small label on the shaft with this disclaimer.  Warning, improper use of this putter may be hazardous to your income.

3.  I guess the term 'book 'em" in Europe literally means hand someone a large book.  Loses a lot of dramatic punch though doesn't it.

4.  Ultimate fighting makes one old early.  Just look at the picture of the 21 year old Champ, and how old he looked 10 years later.

5.  Sure the hats were expensive, but I bet the shoes and dresses cost a whole lot more.

3) David was disappointed that The Big Book of Kits didn't include any shots of The Hoff.

4) "You know the one thing my guy here can't beat?........Diabeetus"

5) They wore their short dresses with confidence knowing full well that Manuel the gardener trimmed the hedges before they left the house.

1) Jeter is not amused by A-Rod's opinion on how many hoops Jeter will have to go through, what kind of a tightrope Jeter is going to have to walk, and other such pantomimed analogies regarding the difficulties Jeter is going to have in getting paid this offseason.

2) Tiger has a brief flashback upon staring at the phallic nature of the putter, and dreams wistfully of the days when he could be a horned dog with no repercussions.

3) Soccer historians look at the big book of soccer history in an effort to find a documented instance of a goal scored, which is a lot like when Lock Ness monster historians look at the big book of monsters to find a documented instance of a fictional character.

4) Nobody is sure why David Tua decided to kidnap Wilford Brimley, but I'm guessing it has something to do with some heavyweight fight that nobody is ordering.

Awesome set, Joe.

I really love your peaches
Wanna shake your tree.

I often say this is one of the best lines in song history.

At the Jukebox
1. Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller
Want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free

2. Theme from Shaft - Isaac Hayes
Who's the black private dick
That's a sex machine to all the chicks?
SHAFT!
Ya damn right!

3. The Book of Love - Peter Gabriel
The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures
and instructions for dancing

4. Neil Young - Old Man
Old man look at my life
I'm a lot like you were
Old man look at my life
I'm a lot like you were

5. Joker - Steve Miller
You're the cutest thing
That I ever did see
I really love your peaches
Wanna shake your tree.
