Fantasy Sports-enhance or detract from real thing

I've been thinking more and more lately that fantasy sports have been hampering my enjoyment of actual games.  Not just say, as a Mets fan having Brian McCann on your team - of course a Mets fan doesn't really want to root for ANYONE wearing a Braves uniform.  This is a little deeper than that.  The time spent on the roster moves, evaluating trades, checking your scoring, etc.  really seems to cut into time I used to take to relax in front of the tube crack open a cold beverage and a bag of chips and moan about that long pass that went off some Jets WR's fingertips or that awesome glove that David Wright just flashed.

Am I the only one in this situation?  I have been playing fantasy football for 15 years, baseball a bit less (though i owned a strat o matic baseball game almost 30 years ago).  I have been considering not playing in my big fantasy football league this year...anyone else starting to regret the impact of the fantasy game on the real thing??

Fantasy Sports-enhance or detract from real thing

One of the things I love about fantasy sports is that a fantasy player has a rooting interest in nearly every game.

I'd definately have to agree with this comment, and its the prime reason I started palying fantasy sports. I'm still relatively new to F-Sports since I've really only participated in them now for about 7 or 8 years and I primarily play football and baseball. There is definately much more common interest in football and I think that having the games only once a week for the most part helps too. It's not a bad idea to give it a break for a year, my friend did it the year before last after running his F-Football pool he got really burned out by it. I don't think I'd be wrong by saying its a hobby that some people spend quite a bit of time on, you get what you put into it, but not without a little bit of luck too.

Fantasy Sports-enhance or detract from real thing

One of the things I love about fantasy sports is that a fantasy player has a rooting interest in nearly every game.  I'm not one of those people who can just sit down and watch a game for the sake of the "beauty of the sport." No, I want someone to win for a reason.  I want to root, root, root for the home team,  cheer on my country in the Olympics, yell at the Dolphins because I bet my neighbor, or berate Jose Reyes because he's my SS.
