Betting against your team?

Posted on: January 19, 2008 8:15 am

Would you ever? Could you ever? Bet against your team? Even if you knew that they  hoovered? If you justified it by well they are going to lose anyway, so it's a win win situation, it's like paying for them to win.

What's your take on this ethical question?

Betting against your team?

I hate the Pats and will bet on them to win the Superbowl and wont mind losing it.  Same thing for betting against my teams in the hopes that somehow I'm paying for my team to win a big game.  As for loyalty, well anytime that somebody who loves money as much as I do, would be willing to part with some of it  for his team to win, well I'd say that's about as loyal as I can be.

Betting against your team?

Theirs a big difference between pulling for your team and putting money in your pocket. The golden rule in this case is simple. Bet with your head and not with your heart. If you bet with your emotions you will often loose. As for your team if you can't separate the two then you don't need to give your money away. I am NOT a gambler but even at a casino I know never bring money that you can not afford to loose. So It's a matter of are you defending your teams honor or are you really making an intellegent gamble?

Betting against your team?

10 years ago-No way would I ever bet against my teams...I would just pass on that game.  The line has blurred between my head and my heart.

With the onslaught of Fantasy...there is to line left to blur. It's a donneybrook!

I bet against my team all the time. U just gotta ask urself. Which is better? Money or just watch ur team loose and get nuttin. I mean if u know there gonna loose (ex: Jets against Pats) y not make money off it.

I bet all the time(not real money), but I always try to bet with my head, root with my heart. Since it's fake money I don't mind to much if I lose. So yeah, I've bet against my favorite teams.

Betting against your team?

Luckily, I am so poor, I never have to worry about this problem.  If I had two nickles to rub together, I would probably make my house payment on time.  Speaking hypothetically, if I was rich, I might bet on sports, but I don't think I could bet against my team.  I have been a day one fan of the Cowboys for instance.  Even through the 1-15 season.  I never fell of the wagon though.  I have never liked fair weather fans, with no real loyalty to their teams.
