They just announced it's a sellout crowd. Total attendance in the Bank Atlantic Center is 9,414, but with a paid number somewhere closer to 7,400.

And there is just one fight remaining: Kimbo Slice vs. "The Silverback" Seth Petruzelli, a one-time UFC fighter who suddenly finds himself with a golden opportunity to make himself famous.

Round 1: Petruzelli blocks a Kimbo Slice bum rush by throwing a knee. He then unloads with fists as Kimbo loses his footing, and as the crowd goes nuts, Petruzelli smashes Kimbo repeatedly on the ground until referee Troy Waugh stops it.

I'll just throw this out there right now: This wasn't the upset some people will claim it is. But it was still damn cool to see.

Winner: Seth Petruzelli defeats Kimbo Slice via TKO due to strikes at 14 seconds of Round 1.

Warming up is one thing, but warming up with enough time to:

1. Get cut.
2. Consult your private physician.
3. Go to the hospital.
4. Get stitched up.
5. Get back to the arena.
6. Get the commission doc to rule you out.
7. Have the announcement at least 2 hours before your fight at the beginning of the show.

That's where the rat is. I don't know anybody who "warms up" 4-5 hours before their fight. Granted, I don't know Ken either but as a personal trainer I could tell you that warming up 4 hours early would do no good at all physiologically. If it helped, you'd see NFL guys on the field at 8 am too. In reality, they eat about that time and don't take the field until about 1.5-2 hours later on the early side.

One more thing-if you're EliteXC and you want to get people to watch, who's going to get interest? Seth Petruzelli? Nope. Ken Shamrock would-even if he never was really going to fight.

All Kimbo had was fear and a good punch.....That is far from enough.....I dont understand why they never had him train with wrestlers to improve his ground skills.....Before they ever let him fight...It would have made more sense and he would have lasted longer

I would also say that the insane amount of scar tissue on Shamrock's face didn't help either.

Sure, warming up in the ring is one thing, but warming up in a manner to cause a "slice" near the eye is not the smartest way to warm up before a fight...Contact with the head is usually avoided when warming up before a fight.  Just a freakish situation.  It could have been avoided.

I agree, and disagree with you. Kimbo was only 3-0 and is not even close to being one of the best. Having said that, even the best fighters get beat, however, there is one man that is the best in the world and his name is Fedor Emelianenko, just ask all the fighters who fought him. The UFC SUCKS!! So does Dana White!!

Lesner would be an excellent draw. Kimbo needs alot of work. He can fight bouncers and guys collecting social security checks like Tank Abbott and Ray Mercer but he didn't need to get in the ring with that young kid. Shamrock was a good match up. Name recognition but slower reactions and suspect chin.

EliteXC live results: Kimbo vs. Petruzelli

In all my years I have never heard of an MMA fighter training the day of a fight.I have trained with several UFC fighters and it is common to sepnd between 15-30 minutes before a fight warming up in the ring.  Nothing unusual about that part.

To steal from Denny Green, "He is who we thought he was!"

Nobody has ever claimed that Kimbo is a great MMA fighter. He is a brawler with buzz. As far as Elite XC losing their draw, talk to me about that after the rematch on PPV. Kimbo will still generate hype, it's just going to spun a different way.

EliteXC live results: Kimbo vs. Petruzelli

In all my years I have never heard of an MMA fighter training the day of a fight.  Usually the day is spent relaxing and maybe going over the fight plan again, if any thing.  Shamrock's eye injury from training for the fight, on fight day, just does'nt sit well with me, as well as others who are in the know about what fighters, do on the day of a fight.  I, and others smell a rat.  Kimbo Slice is not an MMA fighter.  He is a backyard alley brawler.  Shamrock has turned into a circus act, and has become an embarrassment to the MMA.  He was a great fighter, in his time.  CBS and EliteXC should be ashamed of themselves.  I only see a short future for EliteXC.  The UFC is growing at such a fast pace in popularity, with real Mixed Martial Artists, any other organization will only be a side show at best.  It serves the UFC well that it does not have the Ken Shamrock's or Kimbo Slice's of the world anymore to muddy it's pure class. and disolve it's future as the front runner in televised, skilled, Mixed Martial Arts.

This is a testament to how mma is garbage. what hit  did kimbo get hit with to go down? dthat front kick hit him on the shoulder and he went down. im boycotting mma because its bullshit. that was the worse fight I ever seen, no hit landed! even seth was shocked he won. I quit mma because this is sad.

Im pissed that kimbo yook that pay off.

Kimbo didn't take a pay off, unless by "pay off" you mean "assbeating". If that's the case, then he certainly took one of those. Kimbo is a fraud and any MMA fan already knows that. That being said, I don't blame him as much as I blame Elite XC. They are the ones who built him up like he was some kind of superstar and they got what they deserved. I still wish the best for Kimbo. Maybe now, without the hype, he can focus on MMA without distractions and work his way up with the rest of the hungry fighters out there.

In the meantime, Elite XC is doomed by their own doing. They just let their number one attraction get demolished by a TUFer.

It's funny that the UFC actually aired UFC 86 on Spike to compete with Elite XC. They would have gained more fans if they just let everyone watch the EXC show and see what MMA IS NOT.
