Mir-Lesnar II is now officially postponed from the original May 23 date.

Frank Mir appeared on the UFC 96 PPV broadcast with Mike Goldberg. He confirmed that he got his knee scoped recently and it would take 4-6 weeks for his knee to be 80 percent, and then he could do light sparring. Mir said he wants to possibly do the fight on July 11 so he can fight Brock Lesnar at 100 percent, and have no excuses.

They did not confirm July 11 as the definite date of the Lesnar vs. Mir rematch, but it sounds like that's the plan, assuming Mir's healing process doesn't hit any roadblocks.

Mir said it was a lingering knee injury and that the knee just finally popped in practice a while back, necessitating the surgery.

They showed Brock Lesnar in the audience but didn't give him a chance to comment.

i don't want to turn this into a Fedor link but come on.....Lesnar does not have the skill that Fedor has.   Fedor is so technically sound.  But, Lesnar, as he defends his title and keeps training could become more technical.

In a year or so i think this would be an excellent fight, with Fedor winning.  but as they stand now Fedor would rock Lesnar.  rock him.

Personally, I dont want Lesnar to fight Fedor, Fedor isn't the best heavyweight in the world he is the best fighter in the world, along with anderson silva. People will keep on saying that Lesnar can actually beat Fedor until the day they actually fight and Lesnar rocks fedor, but Lesnar loses the fight. Lesnar would be to predictable an opponent for " the last emperor" right now.

I think the UFC and Dana White should let Shane Carwin take Mir's place in May and let Mir fight the winner of that fight. I think Carwin would give Lesnar a good run and possibly beat him. 2 guys almost the same size and a great wrestling background makes for a really good heavyweight fight. I vote Lesnar vs Carwin for the title then a uni-bout with Mir after he is all healed up from the zit he popped on his knee.

I agree 100%. People keep talking about Fedor Emalianko and how he is the best heavyweight in the world. I think Lesnar would give him a run for his money. By the time Fedor gets to the UFC, Brock will have defended the title atleast 3 or 4 times. Lesnars only going to get better.

Who cares about Mir, why doesnt the UFC open up their wallets to have Fedor take on Brock. Brock is just a big mean dude, but Fedor is a complete package and baddest man on the planet. Nobody wants to see Mir get grounded and pounded.

One question- will it really make a difference?  My answer is NOPE!  Brock Lesnar is simply too much of a beast for Mir.  Don't agree?  How's that statement, attributed to Mir- "Mir said he wants to possibly do the fight on July 11 so he can fight Brock Lesnar at 100 percent, and have no excuses."  Why would he need excuses if he won?  Now don't get me wrong, Frank is a tough guy, but he will only need excuses after Lesnar treats him like a Mir-cat.

Lesnar at the top of his game, and only getting better, is a scary thing for MMA, as it will only get tougher to promote his fights
