Swick out of Kampmann fight due to concussion

Mike Swick has pulled out of his scheduled fight with Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 in Dallas on Sept. 19 due to a concussion suffered in training.

The new opponent for Kampmann will be Paul "Semtex" Daley, who has reportedly verbally agreed to accept the fight on short notice.

The story of Swick's injury was first reported by The Sun in the U.K. and was later confirmed by Swick via his Twitter account:

"I am out of UFC 103. It sucks and I am sorry guys..."

He later verified the reason for his injury in a separate tweet.

"I got foot swept while sparring this week and lost my legs. Landed on back of my head and neck and suffered a pretty bad concussion."

According to the Sun, Swick was swept by American Kickboxing Academy teammate Josh Koscheck during the training session.

The British-born Daley is a well-known MMA star in his home country, and was featured in the U.S. last year on CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights, losing to Jake Shields. Daley signed with the UFC this summer after the Affliction MMA promotion closed up shop.

News of the verbal agreement for Daley vs. Kampmann was first reported by MMA Weekly , with the signed bout agreement still pending.

Swick vs. Kampmann was informally viewed as a fight to determine a No. 1 contender to welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.

What makes you think Machida can be beat?  He has completely dominated every opponent he has faced.  The only guy who MIGHT be able to beat him wont fight him because they are friends.

Save your money, catch the UFC online after the f

I don't pay attention to most of the cards nowadays. MMA is mostly dead for me on fight night. This is because its all a battle of the also rans, and I really don't care who's second best. Either George St. Pierre has beaten everyone in his division, or Anderson Silva has decimated his. There really isn't anyone left for them to fight. When their divisions participants fight the combatants have probably already been beaten down by George or Anderson. The light heavys is the only intriguing division left as I think Lyoto's beatable. The heavyweights? Well there is Fedor and thats all you need to know, and he is not in the UFC. The UFC heavy's are a joke. Tune in to TUFF to get more jokes to add to the heap. All in all I won't pay for any more PPV's. Catch most the cards online later and save my money.

That's too bad, but I don't think either guy can beat GSP. But I think Swick would have a shot standing.

Swick out of Kampmann fight due to concussion

While I'm leaning toward Kampmann, this fight is not a gimme. Daley is just as good if not better standing than Kampmann and if the Hit Man decides to keep the fight there he might just get KO'd. However, with a potential title shot on the line I expect Kampmann to eventually look to take Semtex down and submit him.

Denny, are you guys doing a Head-To-Head preview for the UFC Fight Night?
