NBC Bob Costas Rips Usain Bolt, Live

Bob Costas, of NBC, said that Jamaica's Usain Bolt showed no respect for his competitors, the Olympics and the entire audience for breaking the 100m dash world record, his own world record, by just 300th of a second in the final on Saturday.

I totally understand Mr. Costas. It is exactly how I felt Saturday morning when NBC refused to show the 100m dash final live in the USA. It was broadcast more than 12 hours later.

NBC showed no respect for the competitors, the Olympics and its entire audience.

At least Bolt had a very good reason to showboat. He is an Olympic champion, the fastest man on earth. I can only imagine how it feels to dominate the most important race of the Olympic Games in front of the entire world. Well almost the entire world...

Costas' argument is that Bolt could have done better. Sometimes I wonder if people think before talking. 100m in 9:69 is not good enough for Mr. Costas. It must be that high standards apply only to others.

It is ironic that whenever Americans place first in any event that they participate the world must rejoice with them. However it is sad to say that the reverse does not apply whenever it is the world that has made their mark in any event. The olympics is a stage for the world's athletes to place their names in the history books. Jamaica has a rich history in the athletics arena especially at the olympics. As to Mr. Costas comments about Usain Bolts showboating I tend to recall a particular American athlete, Maurice Green, who at the end of his races had his tongue extending out of his mouth. I personally  found this gesture offensive. I can understand that Mr. Costas' as well as other journalist that share his veiws, sense of patriotism is skewed in some sense but it does not hurt for them  to acknowledge the remarkable feat that Usain Bolt has accomplished. It shows the world a bad image of what American Patriotism is about.

Bolt is the greatest athlete at the games and if they had a 125 meter race to go with a 65 meter race to go with a 220 meter race and added all the relays to them, he could be getting 8 gold medals,  Swimming is a farce with all the stupid strokes and the silly amount of relays. Bolt is the man.

you are right there will always be someone faster sprinting is a funny thing on a day when things are on they are on but if off by a hair you will not run your fastest. Nothing away from Bolt he is amazing, however there was a man named Bob Hayes who was more of a football player than sprinter who won gold in the 100yd dash 9.9 and also anchored the US 4x100  who by the way won the race after a baton drop coming from last place he ran a 8.6 100yd dash do not know what it equates to in the 100 meters but fast is fast would love to be able to put the best of the best (need to travel in time to do so)

Everyone knows what NBC stands for, right?  Nothing But Crap.  Should we really expect excellence in their coverage seeing how poorly they broadcast every sporting event.  NBC is like our government, they don't do anything right.

It is bad enough that everything is over by about 9 hours when we finally see it, but everyday I turn on the olympiacs I see boxing, table tennis, badmitton. I mean come on!!!!! I cannot tell you the last time I saw an American boxer on the coverage but I do know there at least 5 boxing matches on the TV everyday! WHY? If there are events the USA is still competing in why are we subject to watching events that have no American teams/ individuals left in them?

Can anyone please explain to me why so many people (including the powers that be at NBC) think Bob Costas is a great announcer and/or studio host?  I love the Olympics, but am struggling to watch when blay blay blay Bob is on screen. He is terrible. He rips Bolt, shows his ignorance, tries to be funny, he clearly is not. Has made a multitude of mistakes including not having a mic on a guest the other night and then laughing it off when they had to share his. He is unprofessional, not very well versed in sports and should be relegated to doing color commentary on Wednesday Night Football. (Yes, I know there is no Wednesday Night Football - that is my point)

Sorry Mr. Phelps, Usian Bolt's performance is THE breath-taking athletic performance of this Olympics and deserves consideration with the all-time athletic achievements that are now being bestowed on Phelps.

As for NBC/Costas, welcome to 21st century TV.  It's all about the cash...er sponsers...so expect more gymnastics and swimsuit volleyball in primetime.

When Bolt started his celebration at the 75 meter line the race was over also.  Total domination.  You run the race to win.  He had won.  What if he continued to push hard unnecessarily and pulled his hammy at the end.  What would Costas say then.
