NFC:     8:15 PM (ET)
Arizona (9-7) at Carolina (12-4) (FOX-TV)

Sunday, January 11
NFC:    1:00 PM (ET)

There is a lot of talk of teams of destiny this week, what with two six seeds moving on to divisional rounds and four road teams favored during wild card weekend. (Both five seeds lost.)

This weekend, I’m staying home with the picks. Logic dictates there is an upset looming; I just can’t find/buy it.

In your twist of the week, all 4 games are rematches of at least one regular-season contest.

Saturday's Matchups:

TENNESSEE Titans (1) vs. Baltimore Ravens (6): Both teams win with defense, asking their QBs merely not to screw up. Playing at home, against a rookie, I have to go with Kerry Collins having a better chance of minimizing mistakes than Joe Flacco. Titans 17 Ravens 9.

(FINAL SCORE: Ravens 13 Titans 10)

CAROLINA Panthers (2) vs. Arizona Cardinals (4): The Cards played the Panthers tough in Week 8 before losing 27-23. But Arizona’s Anquan Boldin will be hobbled if he plays, and the Cardinals are a different team on the road, having lost its final two away games (Eagles, Patriots) by a combined 95-27. Panthers 31 Cardinals 16.

(FINAL SCORE: Cardinals 33 Panthers 13)

Sunday's Matchups:

NEW YORK GIANTS (1) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (6): This is the game that smells like a looming upset, but don’t be fooled. The problem with the Eagles, the designated "2008 Giants" team of destiny, is they're playing the Giants. Giants 27 Eagles 20

(FINAL SCORE: Eagles 23 Giants 11)

PITTSBURGH Steelers (2) vs. San Diego Chargers (4): The Chargers will likely be without LaDainian Tomlinson — not a bad thing considering the emergence of Darren Sproes. The rested Steelers defense will be too much for the Chargers, who showed grit winning their final four and beating the Colts in OT last week. Steelers 20 Chargers 13.

(FINAL SCORE: Steelers 35 Chargers 24)

Where is the upset looming? What am I missing?

Well the Ravens won, but I don't view that as an upset. Unless you want to call winning on the road an upset.

The upset is the first game on saturday gentlemen the titans are not going to win. They are underestimating joe flacco and ravens d

Ravens upset the titans, no brainer carolina over arizona, gotta go with the steele curtain comin down over chargers, and the icing on the cake is giants over the sorry ass eagles.

Really nice job on your analysis but I see a potential change with the Steelers vs Chargers - I believe it will be much closer maybe even upset Chargers 21-20

Great Post.

I can't make a call on the Giants game (my name and avatar will explain). Also, despite the tremendous season they've had, I wouldn't consider the Ravens beating the Titans as an "upset". The Ravens (much like the Chargers) have been playing great football down the stretch and have similar levels of talent unit by unit (with the exception of the running game: edge to Tennessee - and the secondary: edge to Baltimore). And the Titans (much like the Giants) sort of pulled back on the reigns as the season wound down.

I think the greatest potential for an upset would be the Chargers. I like the Steelers to win in this one, but no one is picking San Diego. If I were a Steelers fan, that would concern me.

- Nice break down and Yes those would be upsets, but I don't see it happening. So again ask Where is the upset looming? What am I missing?

Where's the upset, What am I missing?

Looking for an UPSET on 2 out 8 possibilities for an UPSET:

1. Tenessee Titans defeat the Baltimore Ravens, seems reasonable.

2. Baltimore Ravens defeat the Tenessee Titans, seems reasonable.

3. Carolina Panther  defeat the Arizona Cardinals, seems reasonable.

4. Arizona Cardinals defeat  the Carolina Panthers, that is an UPSET!

5. NY Giants defeat the Philadelphia Eagles, seems reasonable.

6. Philadelphia Eagles defeat the NY Giants, seems reasonable.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the San Diego Chargers, seems reasonble.

8. San Diego Chargers defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers, that is an UPSET!

UPSETS are only looming if the San Diego Chargers and/or Arizona Cardinals  win, the rest I would not classify as UPSETS!
