Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

Each week I throw a blog out there asking you all to tell CBS Sports why you love or hate someone or something. We don't care for middle grounds in this blog. Middle grounds are for people much more sane than we are.

This week, we're lovin' and hatin' the Pro Bowl.

So share with us why you love or hate football's All-Star game and if you have time you can check out previous Love/Hate videos here.

How it works is ... comment back on the blog with something like "I hate the Pro Bowl because the best players sit out" or "I love the Pro Bowl because of occasional hits like this."

Something like that. Yours, I trust, will be much, much better.

Remember to start your response with I love ... or I hate...

That's all. So spread the love and hate. I look forward to reading your responses and any suggestions for future Love/Hates are always appreciated.

Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

I hate it.  After the Super Bowl it is so anti-climatic.  All those meaningful regular season games, all those do or die playoff games, all that build up and then the super bowl....and then a bunch of guys playing for exhibition and as others have said, taking the day off.  Really though, if they want to play an all star game they have no other choice.  I guess they could just pick a team and give all of those guys a trip to Hawaii.  They could do all of the lead up events and charity stuff, but not play.  Or, I think they should just wait on it all together.  Pick the team now, and have the game as the first pre-season game next year.  It's a great way to kick of the season, it's just another exhibition anyways so why not do it before the season.  And, if you do it 4 or 5 weeks ahead of the season it would allow any guys who got hurt in the game a chance to heal.  So I hate the post-season pro bowl, but bring on the pre season edition baby!
Once the Super Bowl is done, I'm ready for baseball!

Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

I love the Pro Bowl because players cut loose a bit, and you see a side of them you wouldnt otherwise get to see.  We see the professional side of them (usually) during the season.  I like seeing the premier players playing for fun, without the pressure and expectations on them.

I hate the Pro Bowl because fans across the nation vote for the best of the best, and every year we get egg on our face.  Players no longer remember that the fans voted them in.  In recent years the high profile players tend to cancel out because they are "hurt" with some wussy injury.  Its actually their ego.  This year we have two from the Pats, Moss and Brady.  Is a sore ankle or whatever they claim really bad enough to take a few snaps, run a few routes, and show the fans they care, really to much to ask?

Heres the answer.  Make the Pro Bowl more prestigious.  Come up with a money incentive.   Multi year members get a bonus of x amount.  Escalate the years with more money.   Heres the kicker.  If you decline, your injury must be confirmed as being serious enough not to play.  If you are found guilty you are ineligible to go to the Pro Bowl for one year.

Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

I hate the pro bowl because its meaningless.  One unlike every other league,  this season is over, home field in the final game isn't on the line like it is with the MLB and people actually care about it in the NBA and they do more than just one game with it. e.g. Sophmore vs Freshman which is fun to watch.  All the ProBowl is for is just another way to get athletes hurt and to sell tickets.  Is it really an honor when only fans pick and unlike the NBS coaches cant pick reserves.  God forbid we have players on a team that actually produced and had team leading tackles aka Will Weatherspoon of the St. Louis Rams.

Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

I got to admit I love it because it is the last taste of football for a while. However the probowl is more like a scrimmage. Most players do not go all out. Sometimes the wrong players are in the game because we vote for pure favorites and not really the better players at the time of voting. Granted most of the best players are there but quote a few are left off. After this all we have to watch is Arena Football wich is not on TV all the time.

Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

I love football!

I hate the pro bowl because:

Players only care about being selected, not the game.

If I want to see hugs, I'll watch a girly movie with my wife.

Who picks the players anyways? I think the selection system sucks!

The have no reasons to play hard. In the old old days, guys actually needed the little pittance they got for the game. Today, players are so wealthy, why risk getting hurt? Heck, why even show up?

The pro bowl is a complete joke. A token event, to squeeze the last bit of revenue from tv and the fans. I would watch a game between the NFL all pros vs. NCAA div.1 All-Americans any time!

I hate the pro bowl and will not be watching it.

Why I love/hate: THE PRO BOWL

"but some just don't care about entertaining the fans...after all isn't an "All Star Game" for the fans???"

How is it entertaining when nobody wants to play and nobody cares? Who won last years game and the year before. Whether they show up or not it is duller than the second half of a preseason game. It is NOT entertaining not matter what they do.
