LOCK Thread Results - Day 7  --  Sunday, Jan. 20

OVERALL RECORD  ---  23-30-1

TOP CONSENSUS PLAY  ---  Packers (10 for, 1 against)  ---  CONSENSUS is now 3-3

ALL CONSENSUS PLAYS  ---  1-2 ---  Michigan State covered.  The Packers and Patriots did not.

LOCK of the Day  ---  Is split between NAIAallamerican and Capper1.   Capper1 was the only person to LOCK the Chargers, while NAIA was the only person able to cash on the Packers by LOCKing them at -3.5 for the first half.

BREAKDOWN FOR LAST NIGHT  ---  NCAA 13-7, NFL 8-23 (thank God there is only one more NFL game!), NHL 1-0-1, NBA 0-0, Soccer 1-0

The NFL absolutely KILLED us yesterday, and it was just as bad last year, so, good riddance NFL!  The good news is that the NHL must have distracted all the NBA LOCKers, since there were no NBA LOCKS!  Imagine a world with NO NBA LOCKS and NO NFL LOCKS!  Ahhhh.  How beautiful.

Results/Standings After LOCK Thread Day 7 (01/20)

PB 77's record has been changed from 3-1 to 3-0 because I misread a post that clearly said this is NOT A LOCK.

Thanks.

nhkid's record has been changed from 1-2 to 2-2 due to a missed LOCK by me.

Thanks.

Thanks USC,

Like i had mentioned before, I've been a part of many forums, and this particular thread is by far the best i have come accross.

I appreciate the hours and hours you spend keeping up with your thread.

Thanks USC for all the Book-keeping and B-S that you endure.

I agree whole-heartedly about being selective in "LOCK"-ing games. 1 - 0 is better than 2 - 1. Carry this out each week that remains in the College Basketball season and in the BIG PICTURE the 10% juice will grind you down, literally "eating up" excess winners with corresponding losers each week.

I also appreciate your understanding when I post an UNDER without too much (or any) explanation. As YOU said, if I start out 5 - 0 (I'm 3 - 0 at present) no-one will care. For everyone who reads this post I "number-crunch" to expose weak spots between MY medians and the lines on these games. I don't mind giving out my play on these games, but I'm not going to tell anyone what data I use or how I "crunch" this data.

Finally let me say 2 things -

1 - The number of plays that I Lock will be decreasing. I've already noticed how much closer the lines are to my "crunches", and I need enough of a difference between MY numbers and the lines for me to call it a Lock.

2 - The line is "reacting" more quickly as well. If I find a weak spot in the line, I've noticed that the line is making a quick move to "correct" to MY numbers. For example if I like an UNDER on a game that opened at 150, by the time I place my action and make the post to this thread more times than not the line has moved down. This has 2 consequences; obviously the people following my play may sometimes get a line that's a point or two "worse" than mine. The other consequence is that the line dropping may mean that the difference that I look for to make the pick a Lock may have changed moving it out of my "Lock" status. To help out those who follow my play and compensate for this I will post my play with the word TIGHT next to it when it it is a borderline Lock. I will not put anything if there is a margin for the line to move (against you).

~ Good Luck, Vinny

Also, if anybody sees a problem with their record or thinks there is an error, please post your issue here.  It will be much easier for me to address it here rather than filtering through the thread.  Thanks in advance.

Also, one more thing.

THERE IS NO 2-LOCK MINIMUM!

I only want people to LOCK when they think they have a LOCK, whether its 1 a week, or 1 a month.

I only make the 2 LOCKS MINIMUM for the Standings.  I already have 248 names on the spreadsheet, so I just can't type all of those names in every day.  It would take me forever.

But PLEASE do not increase your number of LOCKS to make the Standings list.  If you are doing that, you are going against the intent of the thread - to help out other people when you can.  If you are LOCKing to get on the Standings page, then you are going at this backwards.

Thanks and remember to be selective on your LOCKS.  1-0 is a lot better than 1-1!
