Pac 10 Predictions, Week 6

OREGON @ UCLA

This one could be interesting as the Ducks hit the road for the first time since Boise, and we've seen how the conferences top teams have fared away from home so far.  UCLA's defense is pretty solid, but Stanford did quite well against them last week, perhaps showing their early dominance was more a product of weak competition.  And let's not forget, the "D" in Ducks has been back as well.  Oregon stays on track for a return visit to Pasadena.

OREGON, 27-20.

STANFORD @ OREGON STATE

The Cardinal are playing very well and finally getting some national attention after a 3-0 start in conference... which of course means they'll lose this week.  This is a pretty even matchup, 2 offenses that run the ball very effectively and 2 defenses that stop the run.  Home field swings it in the Beaver's favor.

OSU, 24-21.

ARIZONA STATE @ WASHINGTON STATE

I'm starting to feel a little sorry for the Cougars (just a little, though).

ASU, 34-14.

ARIZONA @ WASHINGTON
With Jake Locker at the helm and Chris Polk emerging at tailback, UW has one of the top offenses in the Pac.  But they showed again, to their detriment, the lack of talent on defense.  Husky Stadium will be an intimidating environment for Nick Foles, but unless the dawgs magically develop a pass rush, it doesn't matter how loud it is.

ARIZONA, 34-31.

Pac 10 Predictions, Week 6

OREGON @ UCLA

Oregon has been fire lately. CBS is predicting them as the pick to go to the Rose Bowl. They are good, but I'm not convinced that this will be the 1st of 2 visits this year to Pasadena; I still think USC is the favorite. So the Ducks better make this visit to Pasadena count.

Oregon 27 Bruins 16

STANFORD @ OREGON STATE

Beavers are coming off a big road win over Arizona St. and I believe Stanford will lose a Pac-10 game eventually, but it won't be this one

Stanford 24 Beavers 20

ARIZONA STATE @ WASHINGTON STATE

Things are getting ugly on the Paloose.

ASU 35 Cougars 10

ARIZONA @ WASHINGTON

At 2-3 this is a big game for the Huskies bowl chances; they can't afford to fall to 2-4. UW coulda, shoulda, won at Notre Dame last week, failing to punch it in from the 1. Husky Stadium crowd will push them over the top.

UW 30 Wildcats 24

Pac 10 Predictions, Week 6

Forgot that bye weeks existed for a second, so I thought that Cal was playing USC. Disappointed, to say the least. Anyway...

OREGON @ UCLA
I don't care what happens to most of the top teams on the road, Oregon's in a league of its own after the BSU loss. They've been hot, no matter where they are (with the exception of the Smurf Turf).

STANFORD @ OREGON STATE
The Cardinal finally will get truly tested, and I don't see them going into Corvallis and winning.

Arizona State @ Washington State
Like I said, at least the Cougs will have a win this year. (ZING!)

ARIZONA @ WASHINGTON
First time since the Idaho game that I go Huskies for more reasons than "I'm a homer." Arizona doesn't have the team this year, period.

Pac 10 Predictions, Week 6

OREGON @ UCLA

This was supposed to be the week the Ducks showed they could take their show on the road; but injuries have made it more of a challenge. Nate Costa will be be at quarterback. I am less concerned about how he will do with all the playmakers around him than I am about the loss of Willie Glasper at cornerback; the Willie Glasper who was taking over for Walter Thurmond. The Oregon defense has been dominating, but eventually cracks will show. Fortunately, UCLA's offense has not been underperforming and The Ducks will make enough plays to get this one. DUCKS 27 Bruins 13

STANFORD @ OREGON STATE

Here the Beavers go again, gloom & doom going into the second half of the season. Last week they won a game in Arizona State for the first time in 40 years. But it doesn't work out for the Beavers this week. Stanford is a quality team, Gerhart is the best running back in the conference, Luck is better than Canfield, and most important here, Stanford's defense is better than OSU's.
    CARDINAL 30 Oregon State 20

ARIZONA STATE @ WASHINGTON STATE

It is sad to watch the Cougars.

SUN DEVILS 42 Cougars 10

  ARIZONA @ WASHINGTON

Every time I see the Huskies play, it is overwhelming how much they have improved this season. The offense is full of playmakers so Locker doesn't have to run the ball himself every play. But yes, despite the energy and enthusiasm coming from Nick Holt, the defense for the Huskies just doesn't have the talent.

   WILDCATS 35 Huskies 28
