POST DRAFT ANALYSIS

Either it was a good read on Sanchez and Freeman or dumb luck.  I'll give you those.  They traded up to do it though.  Stafford went to the Lions.  How could you have missed that one!  I'll stick my neck out there now, Sanchez will get ate up in New York!!  His inexperience, and Hollywood mentality will distract him from the game.  He is destined to be sacked or throw the ball up for grabs.  It may be hard to tell if Favre isn't still playing.

NFL Mock Draft: 3/17 edition

Well the Cutler trade to Chicago really mixed things up didn't it?  I wonder if Shanahan is lurking in the night, waiting to pounce on the reigns of the Monsters of the Midway next year.  Look forward to seeing how this changes things for you DragonRider23.  Looks as though the Broncos have made a major play for the draft.  I wonder if they will use their picks for leverage this year or if the changes made will be a work in progress to develope younger players.  As far as the Lions go, I don't think they can pass on Stafford.  They need a quarterback and this is the only way they will be able to secure that kind of talent in that position for years to come.  Who wants to play in Detroit these days?  Anything less, I think, would not be enough to infuse the lifeless franchise that Detroit has become.

Namffoc,

I don't do trades until atleast April and even that is a stretch. Seahawks made a great add in T.J. Houshmanzadeh but their recievers lack a good #2. Deion Branch has become an injury bug and with the addition of a guy like Crabtree, they could dump Branch and his salary in support of a WR with amazing upside.

Yes the Lions do need to sell tickets, but Jason Smith is a safer pick at #1, will not cost as much money, and they could trade up later in the 1st round for Josh Freeman if they want. Stafford has a tremendous arm, but he isn't consistant, he will have his good days and bad days, and I don't see Lions taking that risk, which after I just said that, made me realize its the first time I had ever said that.

Interesting how no teams will trade off picks.  The Seahawks for example, do they really need Crabtree now?  I think there will be wheeling and dealing up to the second before the team is required to pick, and we could see some interesting strategies develop.  Should spark up a lot of conversation the closer we get.  Don't forget, the Lions need to sell tickets this year!

I agree with you that the New York Giants will take a WR with their #1 pick. That is, if they still have it and don't trade it away for a Vet WR. I'm not sure if it will be WR Heyward-Bey. But if not him, I certainly see Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt as possible pick ups as well.

Very interesting.  I can honestly say I don't agree with any of your picks.  Who know I may be way off in my thinking and you may be right on.  It's at least a different take on the draft than you see anywhere else.  I would love to read your thoughts on all you picks cause they are so much different that the way I see it.  I always like to know how others see the same things so differently.  It will be fun to see how the draft works out cause you never know the way some teams think.  Good read.

Why do people always have the VIkes taking a frickin center! If Bey, Nicks and Maclin are available at #22 the Vikings will jump all over them, they need another receiver next to berrian, right now it is looking like Bobby Wade is penciled in as the 2nd WR, I would rather have one of those trio, and having Maclin or bey would take care of our lacking return game which we haven't replaced since koren robinson was released.

Wow. you definitely have some surprises in there. I know Andre dropped, but all the way to 32?

The way your draft plays out, the 49ers would take Andre Smith. It's no secret, the team has already admitted that they are very interest in Smith. RT is a greater need than QB right now. Alex Smith just had his contract restructured. The GM, Scot McCloughan says Alex Smith figures in the team's future QB plans and they are not ready to give up on him. Smith is still making $3-$4 million this year and the team is in cheap mode, so no way they would even want to pay Stafford first round QB money. Also, Singletary stated that QB wasn't even in the discussion as it pertains to the #10 pick.

I'm also surprised Vontae Davis is so high.
