Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

6th Position - DT      Vote for the best Defensive Tackles of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choices feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players names, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the positions being voted for that week, as those are the only votes that will count, Remember this week is a double dip and you will be voting for 2 players..........So who our Defensive Tackles?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

The Greatest Of All Time Team needs DT's

wyofan...wasn't necessarilly directed at you and reggie white as I know he lined up at DT alot...but being a skins fan...I remember the days of Clyde Simmons and Jerome Brown killing us on the inside and reggie roaming the outside....mainly gastineau and Bruce smith and really just trying to get people to read...its what happened with the special teamers...there are spots for kick returners but people listed them for their ST's......

anyhow...DKM will sort it out I am sure...problem is theres only 2 spots at DE and there are alot of worthy players...gonna be a tough one.....

The Greatest Of All Time Team needs DT's

Wish there would have been room for Randy White & Bob Lilly (2 classic Cowboys), but Alzado is asking a lot.  While he was a fierce competitor, his steriod use (along with the great John Matuszak) killed him at an early age & he wasn't quite up to the level of the Whites, Lillys, Greenes or Olsens.  That whole Raider defense was a lot of fun, though.

I know, opinions are like @holes, so take it with a grain of salt.

The Greatest Of All Time Team needs DT's

"MEAN" Joe Greene, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ No. 1 pick in the 1969 NFL Draft, was so dominant that his greatness can never be denied. Almost from his first game, the 6-4, 275-pounder showed the superstar talents that established him as the defensive foundation in head coach Chuck Noll's legendary program that produced four Super Bowl victories for the Steelers in the 1970s. Greene was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1969 when he received the first of his 10 Pro Bowl invitations and was named All-NFL five times. In both 1972 and 1974, when Greene was selected as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Alan Page, on the field, Alan Page was a player of almost historical proportions. Off the field, he is an icon and an inspiration for many African-Americans. A consensus All-America at Notre Dame in 1966, Page was the Minnesota Vikings' second pick in the first round of the first combined AFL-NFL draft in 1967.

Pretty much no-brainer picks here.

The Greatest Of All Time Team needs DT's

Good point JLockdOwn51 - I did read the Blog intro - but I choose White even though he is better remembered as a DE. He did move around and he played some DT as well.  When I went back to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton last year I noticed that he was inducted and listed as both a DT-DE. However, I agree with you that, strictly speaking, his identity belongs more with  the DE's.

The Greatest Of All Time Team needs DT's

I really don't think anyone reads...we are looking for Defensive Tackles...interior lineman....since when did bruce smith, gastineau, even reggie white line up on the interior....there is a space for DE's...I think that these should be excluded if they were primarilly DE's......

Just my opinion......

as for my vote

Mean Joe Greene and as much as I hate to say it Randy White.....

why you homer pick of Dave Butz........:)

but my 2 votes will be Randy White and Joe Greene....

Thanks DKM and congrats on getting the 1k tag back....this is a great concept....
