The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A Punter

Posted on: March 14, 2008 10:21 am

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

9th Position - Punter      Vote for the best Punter of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choice feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players name, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the position being voted for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who our Tackles?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

punting is not just distance and hangtime.  punting is being able to put the ball out of bounds at the 2 yard line when you need to bury the other team.   Ray Guy.

There is no question about this. You could just have wrote in Ray Guy just like you can write in Jerry Rice to be your number 1 WR.

Honorable mentions : Rohn Stark, Jeff Feagles, Sean Landeta, Greg Coleman, Sammy Baugh, and Paul McGuire

Ray Guy. No doubt about this one. Distance, hang time, coffin corner, whatever. Guy could spot a punt anywhere he wanted or bring rain. A defensive weapon & a coaches dream.

Another vote for Ray Guy - he was the best, studying the spiraling - bouncing - actions of the ball.  Brilliant!

Ray Guy, Anytime a player can be known for a non-high profile posistion like Guy did has to say something.  Also his physical statue was amazing. Always consistant and I agree he should be in the HOF.
