The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs OLB's

Posted on: April 18, 2008 9:49 am

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

14th Position- Outside Linebackers     Vote for the best Outside Linebackers of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choices feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players names, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the positions being voted on for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who are our Outside Linebackers?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

Let's be frank, Derrick Thomas was JUST about sacks.  Yes, I know he's dead and I am truly sorry he died before he career was complete.  He was on the second half, though.  Please look at the following stats:

Derrick Thomas = 9-year career  642 Tackles  126.5 Sacks  1 Int  9-time Pro-Bowler  3-time All-Pro

Derrick Brooks = 13-year career  1,630 Tackles  13.5 Sacks  24 Int  10-tim Pro-Bowler  9-time All Pro

While Thomas had over 100 more sacks, Brooks has nearly 1,000 more tackles and 23 more interceptions.  Additionally, 6 more All-Pro selections encompassing the entire League.  Thomas' job was to rush the passer and that was IT.
