Posted on: April 25, 2008 9:29 am

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

15th Position- Defensive Ends     Vote for the best Defensive Ends of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choices feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players names, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the positions being voted on for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who are our Defensive Ends?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs DE's

My votes are for Deacon Jones and Reggie White.

I believe Deacon Jones was the original leader for most sacks in a season, however I don't know when a "sack" became an defensive stat.  I can't confirm this but I thought I saw something saying that if the sack stat was implemented back then, Jones would have had the record before Michael Strahan did.  Maybe someone can confirm this?

Reggie White was a dominant Defensive End for the Eagles and the Packers.  I think he has his best years with the Eagles, but was still very dominant for Green Bay.  If White wasn't in GB, I don't think they would have won their Super Bowl in 96.

gotta go with Reggie White.  198 for his career, 2 behind Bruce, but he also racked up another 23 in the USFL before coming to the NFL.

I picked Reggie earlier.  The second choice was tough but I have to give it to Bruce Smith over Deacon Jones.   This is strictly a coin toss, that close.  I know it is a team game, but Bruce was a team leader on a four time SB runner up team.  I don't think Deacon ever made it to the big game, so-that is my tiebreaker.
