The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

Posted on: May 16, 2008 12:37 pm

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

18th Position- Running Back    Vote for the best Running Back of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choice feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players name, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the position being voted on for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who is our Running Back?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

The only reason Barry Sanders had a few bad games was because of the bad play of the offensive line, and the opposing defenses knew Barry was the only player they had to worry about. I think that just proves he is so dominant considering everyone knew what the Lions were going to do, Barry was unstoppable by far the best RB of all-time. So I give my vote to Barry Sanders as well. Barry had sick jukes that no one has ever been able to do, the guy was in a class of his own and for being undersized he took a lot of hits and rarely fumbled the ball, I believe he holds the record for most attempts without a fumble.

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

I have to go with Walter Payton!!!  Barry was a close 2nd.  The one thing Walter did better than Barry was finish a run by lowering his shoulder and dishing out the blow.  They both played for bad teams and still shined.  Love this best team ever not Bad for a Seahawk FAN.

LOL I was a Seahawk because I went to school with Shaun, now that he has been cut I am in between favorite teams at the moment, this one for now I guess.

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

Sorry to disappoint, Barry was the shining superstar for a pretty dormant franchise.  But I love physical football players, I just have to go with Earl Campbell.  This guy on a good team would just crush every record, just think how many TDs, yards, etc he would have gotten behind that line that Emitt ran behind.  Plus his qb was Dan Pastorini! (not that Detroit's Hipple or that tall goofy left handed dude were any good either).

The other thing about Barry was that he would have 19 yards rushing on 17 carries and then bang-gone 80 yards.  Great highlight stuff, but hard to sustain momentum and ball control that way.  I think Campbell could get 4 or 5 yards per carry and then bang go for 80 yards too.

E Smith is way down the list(IMO)

How can you say that. Yes I know he played for a great team and yes he had a good offensive line, but part of being great is keeping it going for years. That he did as good as almost anyone. Emmitt played hurt ran with a seperated shoulder and never I reapeat never ran out of bounds. He always hits someone and tried to get the extra yard. To say he's the best I think would be wrong but to say he WAY down on the list is crazy.

I give the best nod to Barry Sanders just in front of Walter Payton.

Very tough choice for me, but its Barry Sanders. Just think what he could've accomplished with a better supporting cast.

Extreme honorable mention to Sweetness.

Great job DKM. Best blog on CBS.

Barry Sanders is certainly my choice as well, too bad he didn't continue.  At the rate he was packing on yards who knows how many he would have ended up with.

Yeah!, Barry is number 1, imagine if he did'nt retire so early, he would have all the running back records.
